Did you know that there are suggestion forms and boxes for depositing them? I suggested that trash cans be installed along the multi-modal paths. I did get a response! The response was "Janet T(?? Can't remember her last name) doesn't want them" So, there's your answer. Trash cans are bad. Trash is good.
As for questioning your decision to move here, you probably made a mistake. I suggest you relocate quickly. That will allow someone who wants a house here to get a good deal. And while you are busy selling, that will be 1 or 2 fewer people competing for tee times and slots in crowded activities. Buh-bye!

Trash cans would look trashy. Additional expense for collecting the trash from the cans, if( and that's a big if) people would use the can.
BTW about how many would have to be placed. I agree with Janet Tutt.

Besides that, the bears would get into them.
They don't call her King Tutt for nothing!

Hi Folks,
Just to make it clear... this is NOT me.

As for the glass being half full or half empty?
It's half full of Flint Michigan tap water.
Glad to help.

I counted hundreds of cigarette butts in a short distance, along with empty water bottles and smashed pop cans, among other things.

This is disappointing. I have also noticed very unfriendly workers in restaurants. I am wondering if moving here was a bad idea!

I haven't noticed hardly any trash at all. Cleanest place in the USA, cleaner than Disney World.
Who cares if the restaurant workers are rude, haven't seen that here either.
Are you sure you live in the Villages ? My Villages in the one northwest of Orlando and just south of Ocala.

My postal station is littered with cigarette butts in front on the ground when there are SEVERAL trash bins with tops to leave their butts.....don't understand.

I think filter cigarettes should be banned. Unfiltered cigarettes decompose a lot faster.

SO......welcome to the forum. Tell us about you, snookums, other than your remarkable trait of starting a conversation with strangers.

My postal station is six years old and we only have one trash bin and no cigarette butts or any thrash. Bogie asked yesterday, what postal station? I'm curious to know also.

I would guess one of the newer ones where construction workers frequently visit. There are also lawn trucks with trailers that park at some and chit-chat while throwing butts out of windows

I dispise cigarette butts, occasionally see some, and think those people should be ticketed. The villages are super clean, especially considering it's not actually a gated community.

To the OP, congratulations on your 1st post. In what community do you actually live?

Allegiance: The trolls you referenced from outside the village are not a village tribe. As to cigarette butts I find them in front of my home and believe some resident walking feels my yard is his/her ashtray.

We maintain our home in a manner that it would always be ready for an open house should we desire to sell it. so any kind of trash bothers me.

Even if you had 500 posts, you have offended (no, outraged) the koolaid drinkers that bristle at any comment critical of TV fairyland. It really doesn't matter if your comment is true. It will still be dismissed by some as chronic complaining, or having an ulterior motive, or untrue. Yes, your buyers remorse may be setting in. But give it a little more time. After you get used to the crowds, the long lines, the rude golf cart drivers, the entitled cyclists, the clueless roundabout drivers, the hidden dump smell, the frequent sinkholes, the seat savers (they are all non-TVers by the way), the lack of easily accessible healthcare, I think you will decide TV is a nice place.:welcome:

I remember threads about how the historic district was falling apart and was full of unkempt, dilapidated, abandoned homes. The fact is that there are a few of those homes here, but for the most part, the homes are very well kept.

I've seen countless other threads about various horrible wide spread conditions only to find that it's a small issue blown way out of proportion.

I'm not a shill for the developer, but I think that overall, they've done a great job. No place is perfect but this is as good as any place I've ever been.

I'm not saying that this is the case with the OP. I'm sure that she walks in an area that is littered but, from my observations, places like that are few and far between and usually temporary.

Doc: I agree but we also have the other extreme, those who cannot tolerate any reference to imperfections and view it has an assault against TV and the Developer. I feel no compulsion to defend either. My first post pointed out the three tribes because as sure as night follows day the three tribes would be aroused . There is more trash found now than when I first moved here and my statement was qualified by explaining we have had an increase in population so it would follow. Perhaps many would prefer that I say TV is the most beautiful and fun filled venue on earth that is as worthy as if God developed himself. Geezzz

I've noticed every time there is a lot of wind, many palm fronds come down everywhere. I take note of how long it takes for the clean up crew to pick up all those fronds from everywhere. Within three days, this lovely community looks pristine again and all the downed debris from the trees is gone. I have to hand it to the landscape crews to do a fine job keeping our community so lovely.

I also notice if a wayward palm frond falls from a tree in the roadway at any time, not necessarily from wind, the frond is usually gone by the time I pass by again. They really stay on top of keeping our community clean.

As for cigarette butts......who smokes anymore? Certainly not the majority of seniors who live here. Wonder who is throwing out cigarette butts on the roadway and paths?

Don't let a few bad apple spoil the bushel. Unfriendly folks may have just been a bad day for them. As far as the trash I have noticed over the years during high season it does increase. Cigarette Butts a pet peeve of mine, I do yell at those I see flicking them out of their golf carts, car windows or just dropping them as they walk. The world is NOT their ash tray!

Very sore subject for me and it shouldn't be talked about so lightly. I know you didn't mean anything by it, but still.....

Smacking a child is child abuse? Are you serious? Beating a child sure, but smacking? That's what's wrong with kids today, they don't get their butt whipped when they do something wrong. A good percentage of Villagers probably grew up in the era of getting spankings whereas their grandchildren are in the era where no one gets a butt whipping and everyone gets a participation trophy.
