Does anyone know if trash pickup is still on for Thursday with the Hurricane?
If there is a website or something to check, please also let me know.

Thanks!!! I love the hurricane welcome..Its just for me, right?

The VHA just put out a email this morning.

If your south of 44, forget your trash pickup day. It’s just like another holiday, you’ll hold your trash until Monday 9/30. There are 6 such holidays like that in 2024 - now this makes 7.
Don’t worry- you pay the same trash rates as those living North of 44.

Why do some people who have been here 10+ years think that people who have been here less than a week know as much as they do? Puerile?

Has there been an announcement for south of 44?

There are six holidays on Thursday in 2024?

I just called the VCDD and asked about garbage pickup south of 44. They told me that, as of now, garbage pickup has not been canceled.

I am impressed with how precise the weather forecasting is. North of 44 will have strong winds and heavy rain and south of 44, we will have lovely weather!

I always look forward to questions around trash day! If the trash is cancelled I know I may need to evacuate, LOL

I thought about that too. I suspect there were more than a few complaints when the call was made very late for the last storm after some had already put their trash out. Perhaps this time they didn't want to wait too long and instead made a call that might turn out to have been premature.

A noon announcement seems reasonable - plenty of notice to not put trash out tonight.

There might be a special notification placed on or pushed from districtgov.org.

If something is made official then the online news source which shall not be named will likely carry it.

Now that this thread has been started I'm sure someone will post any official information that is released.

My personal guess: Unless the storm strengthens significantly and turns to pass directly overhead, normal trash pickup will occur.

For these type of questions always go to district.gov then you would see that trash north of 44 was suspended and moved to Saturday.
