Absolutely right! If you are afraid someone might get personal info about you by stealing trash, you would not have put that info in the trash in the first place.

I remember reading a thread a couple of years ago where a woman was going to the airport very early in the morning and put her suitcase at the end of the driveway and went back inside. When she came back out 15 minutes later, it was gone. No one figured out if a "picker" or the garbageman took it. Bottom line was she was very foolish to leave it at end of driveway.

I too have had late night pickers, not residents but outsiders,so I called Scott at Neighbor Hood Watch and asked him if I was living in a third world country,he said they were " looking into it"......my contention is because the streets are county anyone can drive around late night, but if the trash is on YOUR grass at the curb is'nt that trespassing ?????

1. How do you KNOW they are not Villagers?

2. Why do you care if someone besides the garbageman takes your trash?

3. If a Villager would walk on your grass a foot from the street - would you think about calling Community Watch or the police because they are "trespassing"?

4. What harm was done to you if someone besides the garbageman took your trash?

I certainly think you would be calling the trash collection department to complain if your trash remained on your property and not on the public portion or roadway. Do you really put your trash on the street to pick up or is it in the partially sealed trash bag at the end of driveway with the other almost 100,000 people in the villages on collection day?

What?
Ever wonder why you see bags of trash on the sides of roads? Likely thrown out by so called trash thieves after going through it and now the county will go through it and come to you for an explanation why you threw it out on the side of a road with a possible citation. Trash placed at the end of your drive is still on your property and should remain so until those you have authorized to remove it does just that. My trash for your info is on my property and is picked up without any problems and yes it does belong to me until picked up by the trash pickup service which I have authorized to remove it, and then it is theirs and it is their responsibility to dispose of it properly as they are paid and have contracted to do.

A homeowner, upon placing items in a closed garbage container and placing the container in a position on his property where the container can be conveniently removed by authorized trash collectors, is entitled to reasonably expect that the container and the trash therein will be removed from his property only by those authorized to do so, and that such trash will be disposed of in the manner provided by ordinance or private contract. By sealing the containers in a secure manner and placing the containers on his own property, the owner has done everything within his own means to insure the privacy of the contents thereof, short of delivering the containers to a central disposal site himself.

I remember reading that No Solicitors are allowed in TV neighborhoods.

Why, then, would you pamper Trash Theives swarming around in the driveways??

Both are a nuisance--and even menace--to have creeping around outside the house, much less pilfering in the dark as trash thieves do.
