Too many people, more outsiders, fast food establishments popping up.

Getting more and more like a big city.

Several years ago there was a gentleman that walked Buena Vista and picked up trash. He did it daily and was in very good shape. Also a lady doing the same thing maybe three years ago on BV and Rec trail south of 466a. Looked like she did it for exercise and good deed. Who’s next?

It is worst. Moved here in 2014. People picked up after themselves when leaving the squares. Not now, they think they're royalty. See liquor bottles all over the place. Seen drivers intentionally run over turtles. What kind of society have we've become? America is in free fall. We're an over populated 3rd. world #%*? hole now. The schools don't teach morality, just blame.

What can be done is people can stop being ignorant slobs and pick up after themselves. If you want to live in a pig sty then stay in your own home and I can only imagine how filthy it is. How people act in public is just a reflection of their private life.

Before covid many (to include myself) would not hesitate to pick up a used cup or fast food bag left by another and properly dispose of it. During covid many folks were nervous to do so. I see masks all over the parking lots of Walmart, sams, Publix, etc. those businesses should be cleaning up their lots before it blows away. Why not tell the store manager that the lot is looking like a trash dump? Let the store manager know. Keep a plastic grocery bag in the car for trash and discard it daily. Those bags are free when you get you groceries. Why not use them? Why don’t we, as a community, simply say something when we see someone litter? All this talking about the problem doesn’t solve it. We probably all need to be a little more proactive

M Morris replied once,if you see a piece of paper ,bend over and pick it up or I will pay someone to pick it up..!!! you will pay for it down the road.

Coal Miner 07-08-2021 05:46 AM

I see more and more cigarette butts thrown on the ground especially on golf courses

GOLFER54 07-08-2021 06:48 AM

Not everyone cares about their landscaping, their home, their appearance, the environment or care enough to throw garbage into the garbage pails. When I travel in my golf cart, I keep one of those grippers in it and when I see a bottle or can or some papers on the streets, I pick them up and throw them out at home.

Maybe the kids are just rebels. Maybe they ARE the grandparents, and they're too senile to remember to take it out of their carts and bring it into the trash at home, so they just toss it because they know someone else will eventually deal with it anyway.

Maybe they're single men who are too drunk to notice. Maybe they're married women who are too in love to care.

Maybe it's the full moon.

Maybe there are just a lot more people, and therefore a lot more people who don't give littering a moment's thought. Just like there are ALSO a lot more people who DO care, and a lot more people who might care, but don't notice.

A lot more people = a lot more of a variety of personalities and behaviors. Sad but true. The more residents we have, the more likely we are to see more litter.

I love you, OBB! Nailed it!

I don't see that much trash at all. You must be driving outside of Leesburg or somewhere I think the Village is just as clean as any place I've ever lived. Some people just like to complain

NY2TV 07-08-2021 07:11 AM

I always attributed the cleanliness to the TV staff picking up trash very quickly after it appears. I wonder if TV has fewer staff members now to do this clean up.

Peggy Kalosky 07-08-2021 07:50 AM

Pick it up when you see trash. I. Know it’s upsetting but I will stop and pick it up and discard it. We all need to pitch in. Don’t drive by and complain help😎

Hackercraft 07-08-2021 08:22 AM

Don’t just bitch about it, be like a Boy Scout and pick it up. Don’t wait for someone else to do it. Leave the place cleaner than you found it.

Lynnesail 07-08-2021 09:09 AM

Remember, people in the squares may not be Villages residents. They are open to the public from anywhere.

024engine 07-08-2021 10:27 AM

Same reason as I stated in a previous reply about snowbirds. They behave and act just like they did where they came from. Don't want to conform to rules or the law. JUST SAYING
