Sad that some people do not understand it or perhaps do not want to understand it.

Most people who obsess about the choices other people make, are either afraid they ARE what they're criticizing, or actually are and are just pretending to "fit in." I wonder which one all the critics here are.

So much for "live and let live" friendliest town in the country mentality. It is all an illusion to mask the hatred and fear of "other."

So true, but it is not just here, look around the country and see what the majority of states are doing...

Is it an obsession to take exception to the large ,vocal segment of our society that has to a surprising degree succeeded is convincing many that you can change your genetics by an act of will ? This absurdity is demonstrated when athletic organizations allow men to compete with women as if they are a woman. I don’t know if anyone here is “obsessed”. No one has in any way suggested you or anyone else cannot live their life as they chose or they be punished for their choices. But I will not willingly accept a phantasy. Is it a big deal? Not to me it’s just a good example of how goofy things can get. The genetic differences between men and women make for pervasive and profound differences that no amount of cosmetics surgery or hormones can change.

Chromosomal Abnormalities are just that, abnormal, or, not normal. Happens throughout the world of living things. But a human born with a tail is still human and not a monkey. Likewise, a human that thinks they would like to be a monkey may decide that they want to have a tail surgically attached won't make them a monkey. My only point is that you are what your DNA says you are. If you prefer a doctors research, check out Dr. Moreau's findings. A fictional tale that depicts that you are what nature or God made you, not what your surgeon made you look like.

Any "hint" of a Y means an XY was in the DNA in some previous generation. The Y can loose it's potency so to speak (smoking is an example) but none the less "its a boy" was said. Now what is the possibility that political agenda and science meet to mess with the Y in the future... get rid of the Y and you have population control. Hence why sperm banks go for healthy Y contributors and not anomolies you would think (?)

Agree with most of what you say. To me, though, it can become a big deal when the athletic conferences start allowing "transgender" individuals to compete.across the genetically determined boundaries. It unfairly alters the competition and, in some instances, may even make competition very dangerous.
Also, the political pandering to legislate wasteful and unnecessary laws and forms (post #1) government time and money and adds to our giant spaghetti bowl of bureaucracy.
We should all be able to live our lives as we would like without fear or abuse.

No point in correcting any of that except to say:

Agreed but the gay agenda thinks or rather will say otherwise so as to fit their narrative.

A, Locate belly button.
B. Look south about six inches.

Problem solved!

If you want to lie to yourself, fine. But don't cry if others won't participate in the lie…..

Well said

Agree, why bother asking. We are going to leave the underpaid, underqualified TSA to decide if the correct box is checked?

So, lets let the thread return to the original question which was to stir up a dog whistle on anything other than your view.

You misinterpret the original question and go off in the wrong direction. The question was "Why ask the question regarding Gender?" If your current ID says one thing and you want to say something else, that is OK by the instructions. You need no one else's decision. Thus, the answer is irrelevant. It does not contain any relevant identifying info about you. No intent of a dog whistle. Just an intent to point out the absurdity of asking a question that has no value by definition. Any answer is considered correct. Obsessions with what you are is not the issue. Just like questions regarding hair color, eye color, skin color, height and weight where you can decline to answer or change the actual.

TSA's responsibility is to determine if you are who you say you are and to evaluate whether you represent any danger. If you are 30 years old, 6'8" and full beard, bald, 400 pounds and claim to be Twiggy (Dame Lesley Lawson DBE (née Hornby; born 19 September 1949) is an English model, actress, and singer, widely known by the nickname Twiggy) you "might" be questioned without needing a form that you filled out regarding characteristics. No one is going to count your x,y or other alphabet constituents.

Sorry I was not clear, that is my fault. You misinterpreted my reply. I was not replying to the OP, I was replying to someone that went off on the "there are only two sexes" dog whistle.

And I agree with the reply that said the reason for the questions is more than likely associated with the TSA having to do "pat downs" occasionally, and they are required by law to use a person of the same sex (in the case of male vs female). I have no idea what they do for an intersex person.

They would have to find an intersex type person if not available, have to find a volunteer who would volunteer to be interesex that day?

As a potential volunteer, do you get to see who they want you to pat down before you actually volunteer? Remember, as a volunteer, you're not getting paid to do the job. 😋
