This is a link to the Florida hospital ICU and beds capacity. I have been watching since another poster provided it early in the pandemic. Florida overall has been and still is running approx. 20% capacity. Sumter is 10% ICU avail right now and Lake is 21%.

It's my hope this is helpful.

Thank you for the post with FACTS. It's getting really tiresome reading these posts with no factual basis or link.
Sumter is now up to 20% availability and Lake is 19.3 as of 10:16 am.

Because Florida is open we will have many businesses make it through this and bounce back. If you are not conformable stay home it's your choice.

What a selfish arrogant attitude - the consequences will inevitably also be felt by others who get COVID from asymptomatic people and the additional health and societal costs will impact on everyone.

Also the need to continue with business is crucial to the whole system of keeping people employed and getting them money for important things like food and shelter. It was not an easy call for anyone in authority. I am glad it wasn't on my shoulders.

But of course we each had to do what was best for us. If teachers thought that being in the classroom was too risky, then they may have decided to do another type of work temporarily. Some people like the ones who work in grocery stores are the true hero's to me. The people most at risk, usually were retired and could shelter in place and protect themselves and others, but some could not. This awful pandemic was not something that could be solved with edicts and legislation. I think most people got tired of doing what they were told. I am amused at the ones who preach about doing this or that, but allow themselves convenient loopholes to do pretty much what they wanted to do.

Humans are strange animals. I cannot wait to get the vaccine and see the end of this.

"This awful pandemic was not something that could be solved with edicts and legislation."

It was solved by edicts and legislation in New Zealand, Taiwan, Australia, and a number of other countries.

Rubbish, you must follow laws and public health requirements if you have any sense of the common good.

Make a plan total bs! Let’s sell the fear instead of the facts. Do the the fear mongers enjoy scaring seniors with bs like this thread?

In a free America, each citizen has the right to THINK and take necessary action to protect themselves. Do not need Gov mandates or big brother politicians that love to tell you what to do. How many times must they be caught doing opposite of what they dictate to others?? (In closed hair salon, in a park riding bike while quarantined, in a fancy restaurant with group, on and on)

I will continue wearing my mask, staying out of public buildings, and stay distanced until the numbers subside.
NOT because of the politicians dictates from on high, but because I follow mostly common sense.

Humbug to you - it is about the common good and our responsibility to others, not just your selfish self.

From the same source at 11:02 a.m.: Out of a total capacity of 90, there are only four ICU beds available in Marion County, so in answer to Post No. 1, I wouldn't plan on going there.

Fact check: Chart does not present accurate US deaths figure for 2020 | Reuters

There no accurate way to know how many die in year and what they died of let along how accurate the information entered.

I do know this, I see lot more people in obituaries now than ever before.

I agree, the disease is real but the PR part of the pandemic has been botched and statements coming out of people with authority seems to change. Dr Brix saying if you die with COVID you are counted as a COVID death is about as botched as it gets as the death numbers drive everything, masks, shut downs, everything

No, it was not solved, it was postponed. When the restrictions are eased the pandemic is right there waiting.

There was an interesting article somewhere this morning about Taiwan. That country has had great success controlling the pandemic by almost completely closing their borders. Now they face the question of when to reopen - the article suggests 2022 at the earliest.

You have the right to move and not stand there, when I see people getting too close I just move.

They don't have to accept the consequences of their actions because they probably don't know they caused consequences. What's troubling is the disregard for the welfare of others when we could help. I don't know about many of you but my parents and grandparents instilled a sense of community and a need to do stuff that helps the community. I like to believe that still exists in most of us but there are attitudes like this post that ignores the good actions necessary for the many for the selfish actions of the few (thanks Spock).
