Default Is TV FOR ME ?????

This is a wonderful informative site and I've learned so much about TV in my few weeks participating. I understand how fantastic TV is for golfers --- very active sports enthusiasts --- sociable couples --- outgoing singles --- people who are adventurous by nature and anxious to try something new.

But how 'bout ME ??? My personality is reserved, definitely not outgoing, not a social butterfly. I hate the sun (lived in Miami over 40 years and had enuf). I'm LAZY ... would have to live within a short walk or drive to the Town Square, Pool & Rec Center. I'm a weenie at the thought of driving a golf cart.... it sounds like an accident waiting to happen. Bad back and knees have slowed me down to a stroll and I don't play golf, tennis, pickleball (whatever that is) or any other active sports.

I would definitely join a couple of clubs --- singles, computer, photography, travel; I'd pay extra for the Fitness Center and Learning Center. I'd hang out at the pool - sitting in the shade and trying to make friends there. Once I make friends, they stick around for the long-term! Hmmmmmmmmmm....... still a wannabee trying to decide :dontknow:

That's entirely your decision CIB. Do you want to stay in the mode your currently living in or are you willing to give it a try to change? IMHO, Life's too short to stay in a rut but that's your decision. I don't believe you've been to TV yet to even see it. Sounds like a good idea and maybe you can decide then.

You may also want to try a senior community that has less emphasis on sports and more on cultural activities. My cousins live in such a place in Charleston, maybe you should be looking there? Just a thought.

TV is whatever you want it to be - active, passive, progressive or downright archaic.
The beauty is that you can change your mind at any time and be as active, passive.... as you want.

Don't equate TV to metro-Miami and vicinity. It's nothing like any of the metro areas - JAX, Tampa, Orlando or MIA. It even has hills !

Let's see, I avoid the sun whenever possible, am inherently lazy and don't join things just to belong. I LOVE TV.

I'm just as content to stay home, watch tv, read a book, putz on the computer as I am to be at Nonie's bellydancing or walking around the squares people watching. You have to decide what you want. For me, it was the simple fact I could be as active or inactive as I chose to be on any given day. There's always something to do if I so choose. The people are friendly and accepting.

Maybe the best way to decide if TV is for you is to come down for a month. I don't think a week would be enough time because you'd be so busy trying to cram everything you could in that you wouldn't have time to really see how it fits you and your lifestyle. Give it a try and then make your decision. The nice part is you don't have to decide immediately, you can take your time and make sure it is right for you. If it's not, find a community that fits your needs. If it is, welcome aboard!
