I'm one who has criticized the Sun in the past.I have recently accepted the fact that this paper is good for activities info in the villages and not much more.I play alot of softball and it's nice the way they cover village softball.I still get frustrated when I see or hear of something happening in the villages & it's like nothing even happened. No mention in the Sun or any outside news source.Oh well if that's the way it is then who am I to complain? Nice to be back in" our bubble"

The Daily Commercial is the best I've found for getting anything close to local news for TV. It is a real newspaper too, not a bubble publication.

Not completely fair regarding only good news in The Daily Sun.
I have read when a local Villager shot her husband. I read the police blotter on a regular basis for surrounding area, and several end up being from The Villages. I have read when folks have crashed their golf carts. There is more, but I've made my point. The one thing I wouldn't mind seeing end, is the questions posed to Villagers such as. At 15 cents per issue, you get what you pay for. I think I actually save money by subscribing because of the restaurant coupons and specials that are advertised in The Daily Sun.
I think they do a pretty good job recording Village events and some local stuff. Sure they are biased, show me a media outlet that isn't. Some of it may be escapist but that's what most of us like about TV. I get my hard news from Fox and CNN. I get my local gossip here on TOTV. If I relied only on The Daily Sun and the developer TV station, that would be weird. But anyone who wishes to stay informed should go to various media outlets... not just one.

When we want the real news, we read online, or get the Orlando Sentinel. The Daily Sun has sports results and Villages activities. Its biased, and controlled by the Developer, everyone knows that, so hopefully its not taken seriously when it comes to world events, etc.

....and then we have, the best journalistic bargain in TV which is published monthly and is FREE; namely, the POA (Property Owners Assn) "for-the-people" organization, who are there for us big time. Kinda levels out the playing field between the Owners and Developer. The POA is the "owners" watchdog and mouthpiece.
Most are eternally grateful to the founder of the POA, Joe Gorman, and his crew for their no-holds-barred journalism and accomplishments for the owners.

Having lurked on this board for some time (and having read the Daily Sun online version), I don't think the Daily Sun is trying to pass itself off as an objective source of journalism (the complaints made of both the MSM and Fox News depending on your point of view).
The Daily Sun seems to be more of a cross between People Magazine (news on the social front), Sports Illustrated (news on TV sports teams), and the Greensheet (classified ads). The only thing qualifying as "news" might be the local police reports.
