Default TVRH Rating

I decided to do a little research into the one star rating of TV Regional Hospital. Found this. I found it quite interesting. It certainly seems to me that any hospital that serves a majority of older patients will have their ratings driven down, even if the quality of care is good.

How are hospital overall ratings calculated?

Very good point.

Volunteers can have a huge impact on quality of care so the community has opportunity to help improve.

That is exactly what hospital management stated when they defended their rating and makes sense but doesn’t explain the high rate of patient staph infections and a number of other negative issues that are care related. That being said it’s still on the bottom of my list unless there is no other option

Volunteers won't improve the wait time in the ER only competent staff can change that nightmare. When I was there most if not all of the patients waiting for help in the ER were younger than retirement age.

No. Data is adjusted for morbidity. There are many hospitals serving similar populations who have higher ratings.
