He informed me that the journalism
Was reflective of the investigative responsibilities that once was commonplace in today’s mass media and is now a rarity.
Bottom line is that if a villager resident
Is caught unawares it must be because they are just to smart to learn anything
Beyond beyond their front door.

I think the confusion is for people who were looking at UHC vs BC/BS for 2020. One of them doesn't cover Moffitt and Shands. I forget which one.

And that statement needs further clarification for all - The Villages Healthcare primary centers (where you go to see your primary doctor) do not take Medicare. It must be one of three specific United Healthcare plans (HMO, Local PPO, HMO-POS) or newly added specific Florida Blue plans for 2020 if you are 65 yrs old or older. The above statement is also correct "The Specialty Group" has an affiliation with the primary healthcare centers but also take other patients. Most of those docs take regular Medicare in addition to The Villages Health plans..

This is good news for Villagers as UF Health is well respected and Shands is a highly rated hospital, hopefully the same quality brought here.

It's about time because it's pretty scary to think that you've been admitted to an F rated hospital and you're nervous enough without having to worry about what kind of care you'll be receiving. Shame on the present administration for letting it become rated so low. Maybe now I can feel better if my Mom or friends are admitted.

Let me clarify that a bit. The Villages Health (primary care physician group) does not take "traditional" Medicare. They DO take a number of Medicare ADVANTAGE plans from both United Healthcare and Florida Blue.
I think saying TVH doesn't take Medicare is misleading. They take Medicare Advantage Plans from UHC and FL Blue.

This is all very confusing, especially to us relatively new snowbirds that have homes up north and homes in the villages. I’ve never had an issue with Medicare on my AARP/United healthcare supplement plan in Ohio. Every medical expense has always been nearly 100% covered. I have taken care of all my medical issues up north. Will I have medical coverage issues here in the villages? I have never seen a doctor or gone to a hospital in or near the villages yet.

The available local medical plans are indeed confusing to newcomers to The Villages as well as snowbirds. I guess I will have to await my actual move to weigh my options as I really like my primary care physician in Maryland.

We have the UHC Advantage plan and use Villages Heath. My wife has been to a number of specialists and the Villages Hospital many times, and also a number of other hospitals in the area

Everything was paid for, except co-pays (except there are no co-pays for Villages Health). In fact, one hospital offered a discount on the co-pay if we paid upfront.

Yes, for any physicians who accept regular Medicare. (Not Villages health primary care MDs.)

You may also want to compare premiums for Medicare plans in both states. Florida has higher rates than some states and if you have great medical care in Maryland, you may want to keep it.
