Bought in Marsh Bend , we here a little noise but not enough to worry with, sounds like this guy just needs to build something himself , solve his problem, not make one for someone else

Very true he did buy a house right by an interstate.

The houses on the Turnpike are dramatically reduced. Some Up to 50K less than being in a quieter neighborhood. The buyers knew why they were reduced. Deal with it, and quit bi***ing!

Price reduction probably due to value of land not worth as much as quieter more desirable areas. Buyer should have realized he was getting a bargain and why that was.

As a wise man once said "Aint no free lunch"

I had read that there were plans to add a lane to the turnpike. Did the developer knowing this leave it out so the State D.O.T. Would pick up the bill? If so, smart move. If the developer had built it, wouldn’t the cost just be added to the bond in those areas? No real loss for the developer? Just a thought.

If they decide to add a third lane it would be years before a sound barrier is built. And what about the bridges? OP is doomed for now.

Another solution is glass in the lanai.

Not much different from buying a house near an airport, or near a firehouse, or near a factory, on a busy street, etc. The deal was too good to pass up, now change the world for me!! Maybe he bought it on the internet. At least with Amazon you can return it.

I use to go to gun range outside of town few miles by county lake. No house around. Then developers put in or houses couple miles down the road. Yep, you guessed it. Complaining about noise. Course the county carpetbaggers gave in ANd closed down the range. Same thing happened to drag strip I used go to.

I wanted to live in a specific historic neighborhood when I was in Denver and bought a cute semi-detached (duplex) on a busy street. Why? Because I couldn't afford a single family home on one of the interior streets!

Had new casement windows installed and made do.

Did get used to it after awhile but made us very cognizant for the future.

We were in the departure path of Newark airport about 8 miles to the SW. I feel your pain. Cars all around were constantly covered with "stuff" from the planes engines. Even when they changed the flight paths it made hardly any difference. What a pleasure moving down here to "the sticks."

What is the issue with power lines?

We also bought a house in Monarch Grove and looked at houses on Hickey Way. One stop and a walk to the backyard and we knew that there was no way we would buy on that street. The price drew us there but the noise was not for us. We are a few blocks away and love it there. You need to do your homework before you buy.

My thought was about the word "unbearable". It seems to me that some people ted to exaggerate some problems.
