It has always taken UHC since I’ve lived here. My specialists have accepted it, the hospital took it when I had surgery and the Cancer Center also takes my UHC.

Exactly. Always call your provider when you are unsure. Asking anyone else is like using your gps to give you the right directions but you could end up in never never land.

they all accepted ours to the tune of in excess $85,000

Call your insurance and confirm it may be a specific one like Advantage

confusing report

I think the April POA Bulletin text (end of article) confuses Primary Care with hospital treatment coverage. Primary care physicians vary in accepted insurances, e.g. Villages Health HMO (practice, not the insurance plan) requires United for primary care, others may differ. My agent assures me United Medicare Advantage covers The Villages Regional Hospital. This report has caused a lot of confusion and calls to agents.

My husband was in the hospital for a week and had a heart test done there and in both cases they took our medicare and united healthcare supplement. We do not have The Villages one..

You're correct. I should have said any provider who accepts ORIGINAL or TRADITIONAL Medicare must honor the lettered Medigap plans, A, C, F, etc.

The Villages Health does not take traditional Medicare. It and United Health Care have their own deal, an ADVANTAGE plan. By the way, there are thousands of us in The Villages that formerly were patients of The Villages Health and who left circa 2016 at the time they switched to UHC.

Can you explain why you turned down the advantage plan?

stebooo 04-16-2021 10:42 AM

So here we are several post later some say it isn't accepted some say that it is accepted so we're really no better off than we were or I was before I started reading this article. Was someone with UHF maybe step to the plate for clarification purposes thank you

You are absolutely correct. After getting a number of different responses I called AARP and they said just what you said. Thanks to everyone who chimed in.

My husband just had outpatient surgery at Leesburg hospital. We have United Healthcare Supplement F and it was accepted with no problem.

We turned it down because we have had to use a lot of healthcare during the last several years and when we have a problem we want to go where we want to go without a gatekeeper (an Advantage plan) giving permission.

If you are healthy and nearer 65 than 85, an Advantage plan is, of course, much cheaper and may come with certain benefits, such as eyeglasses or gym memberships, etc.

Was told the same thing but I called UFV Health and they said the situation was only temporary and they were working on a solution. You can check it out at the ADM Dept at the Villages Hospital.

Why would write this garbage if you don't know what you read??? Pure Garbage.

Do all a favor and contact your health care provider for a CORRECT response.
