They are in Ohio too. I don't know why that lemons cost about two dollars for three of them at Publix most of the time. They grow HERE!

On the subject of the Publix at 466A, It was REALLY crowded last winter and now with the folks moving in across from it and also the new people in St.James, and Tamarind Grove, it will really be crowded.

I think that Sweetbay must be a MUCH smaller chain than Publix, does anyone know? That in itself may be the reason for them to hesitate building a new store. Just like every other business in Florida the heavy population in the winter is the challange.

I like to shop both and go to Walmart for a lot of things too just because it is cheaper.

They are owned by the Delhaize Group, which owns Food Lion, Hannafords and many others in Europe.

Could it be that in Maine 30% of the population is on food stamps and the avearge income is only $26K/yr and we pay the highest % of our income in taxes in the country?

Sweetbay has 105 locations and operates only in west central FL:

Publix, on the other hand, operates 1,041 locations with 738 of those being in FL:

Sorry, but I missed the post that you deleted. Hmmmm, anybody feel that freedom of speech may have been kicked to the curb?

But if you count the whole number of stores under the corporate picture, Publix is small potatoes.

Just remember that there is no constitutional guarantee of freedom of speech on a privately owned message board such as this one.

Can't do it. It outside The Villages in the town of Wildwood. You must drive the car.

RichieLion 10-29-2011 09:07 PM

Offensive posts on a thread about Supermarkets????? I wish I saw them now, just out of curiosity. Sounds crazy.

John_W 10-29-2011 09:38 PM

The deleted posts were the usual comments about Wildwood, I feel dumber for having read them.

other grocery options

we travel to leesburg to aldi......a great way to save, $1.49 for 5# of red potatoes! 1/2 gal 1% milk is $2.19, publix is $2.75. walmart is good for some things, like cereal. and publix has its place also.
you have to go to multiple places, but combine all your trips at once. and get an insulated cooler with some ice-packs!
:crap2:
