79 posts! As Dr. O'B pointed out, it's simple. Valet Parking will be popular or else it will go away.

The developer makes millions on this development. Do you really think that the small amount of money to be made from valet parking is important to him/her/them? The reason we have valet parking is because there were fears that parking could be difficult because of the Sharon. Valet parking was instituted to alleviate those concerns. If the valet parking is of value to the residents it will continue, if not it will be discontinued. It seems that there is always something for some to complain about. We went to the Sharon for the opening Gala...parking...no problem. We have been to the squares several times since....parking... No problem. If anyone has been negatively impacted by valet parking, please let us know. Otherwise this is all just speculation.

I have not seen the actual valet service in person, as of yet, but let me ask you, with all the opportunity for criminal behavior lately.

Whats to stop someone from holding a valet sign up, and stealing the carts one by one..... to unsuspecting people.?

They could probably get up to 20 carts before anyone catches on......

We may have insurance, but you also have a deductable, so you still loose.

I suppose anything is possible.

What really happened to me one time is that I paid a man $5 to park on Sunday in the Philadelphia Art Museum parking lot. Later that day I found out it was free. He was holding a bunch of fives and looked very official.

Then you might want to see it in person before you make an uninformed post.

Having a pseudo Valet Company set up to steal golf carts is about as likely as The Villages being hit by a Tidal Wave.

OMG....go check out the valet service. It is very obvious. If you give your cart to a complete stranger....well, you won't. Go check it out, then you will realize what a silly statement you made.

Oh geez :ohdear:.... You haven't even seen them at the square! They are definitely quite obvious !

On a rainy night out to the Sharon, I would love the luxury of valet service. Wouldn't you?

OMG……What's to stop someone from stealing your cart with a flatbed truck or SUV with trailer while you are in Publix or a restaurant after parking it yourself??????

Or what's to stop somebody with a gas cart coming with a towing strap to tow "home" somebody's electric cart whose batteries supposedly died, but they're actually towing it to thieves who will load it into an unmarked local moving truck.

Well they would have a hard time getting my cart; I have the "club" on the steering wheel, I have 2 ignition cut off switches, I have a "boot" on each wheel, I have 50' of 1/2" case hardened chain that is wrapped around the four roof posts - thru the steering wheel - thru the arm rests on the seat - thru each wheel - around each axle and then fastened to a fire hydrant or tree (using a shrouded padlock!). I also usually take one of the batteries out of the cart and take it into where I am going (a shopping cart certainly makes this easier!).

If by chance they get thru all that; I have Lojack installed with 60 day power supply and I can track down my cart and physically assault the no good thief (although I seriously doubt that will change his ways, a young thief grows up to be an old thief), but I will definitely get my cart back.

I would not use the valet service, as I doubt they would be willing and able to lock it up as good as I can.:gc:
