Village Home Make-up
Ok, my wife and I as I have said in other posts arer in the TV "buying" stage of a CYV. We have studied the maps, all the home buying sites, etc and the following appears to us:
1. Each village within TV has the roughly (+/-) the same number of homes & villas in it. 2. Each village has one "neighborhood" of stucco/concrete CYVs and one "neighborhood" of frame/siding CYVs. 3. TV builds many more 3 bedroom CYVs, then they do 2 bedroom CYVs. 4. TV presently builds more of the Woodlawn 2 bedroom CYV then they do Beauregard 2 bedroom CYVs. Are we on trach with our observations or are we in left field! Army Guy

No Army guy, at least it is incorrect about the frame and stucco homes, they are intermixed.

Gracie, no I don't mean the regular homes, cause I agree with you on that I mean of the CYVs. All the CYV neighborhoods our Rep took us to when viewing homes, were just one type construction within the wall of that neighorhood. But I agree, of the regular homes, yes, we saw either type right next to each other in some cases.

Technically... a bedroom HAS to have a closet AND a smoke detector inside the room and outside the door within a reasonable distance or it cannot be classified a bedroom.

I have a 3 bedroom CYV, Bonita model, and the third bedroom has a closet. I currently use the 3rd bedroom as a den because I do not have a bed in it yet. To be called a bedroom, it MUST have a closet.

Villa closets
Army Guy, sorry for the slight hijack. The two larger models of Savannah villas (Grantham and Stonybrook) have closets in all bedrooms.
Our sales rep told us that the stucco villas are done from poured molds - not CBS like the homes. We were also told that there were fewer Granthams. So it makes sense that they have a formula for "how many" of each they pour. k

I have a 3BR Foxglove CYV and all three bedrooms hae closets. We put a queen size murphy bed in the room that serves as my wife's sewing room and a futon bed in the room that serves as my office. Plenty of room and closet space.

3 bedroomed Anna Marie model
Hi,
We have the 3 bedroomed Anna Marie model (in Sabal Chase). We have a closet in the 3rd bedroom, though we use it as a den and have a queen sized futon in there for use if we need it. Hasn't been used yet thank goodness! When we have visitors they come for 3 - 4 weeks at a time which is far too long! |

villages construction styles
Quote:
Just did a search of Villages only resales and found 30 3-bedroom CYVs either for sale or pending and about 49 2-bedroom ones. Usually very few Bonita/Foxglove on the market at any one time (and I check all the time for some obsessive reason, maybe just to feel good about my choice, who knows). Maybe they build more Anna Maria's/Stoneybrook models, don't know. There always seem to be more of those on the new construction available as well. As with any house, there are pluses and minuses to every floor plan, just have to find the one that suits YOU the best. My conclusion is either there were more 2 bedrooms built and thus more 2 bedrooms on the market at any time, or maybe there are more people who decide to move to a bigger unit, maybe when they become FROGS, if they have a 2 bedroom. Could be other reasons that haven't occurred to me. We originally thought we would buy bigger when we moved down permanently, but now don't think we will as we are finding we have plenty of room and think we will forever. My goal in retirement anyway (at least one of them) is to simplify my life anyway. Just need space (or an air mattress) for the visiting kids/grandkids to sleep on as they multiply (the grandkids, not the kids, hopefully |

Yes, we are thinking the same thing, that tastes have changed and most now want 3 bedroom. And Ohiogirl, I think you are correct of the 3 bedrooms, the Stonybrook seems to have more built/being built now.
Wife and I just want to downsize from what we have now, as we never had kids so don't need extra bedrooms for their visits etc. Just want a house for the two of us. We actually like the Patio villas in size, but we want the concrete for both the increase of soundproofing and save on heat/cool, insurance. But Patio's don't come in block nor have the fenced courtyard. Looked at Design but they do not make 2 bedroom concrete only 3, so concrete CYV is the way to go for us. Army Guy
