with downeaster!

In keeping with my adopted lifestyle since retiring, the better part of the morning is spent with coffee and "the paper!"

Granted, it's parochial, and frequently shy of national-worldwide news, but it has definitely improved since I first subscribed five years ago.

Orlando tv news is shockingly devoid of anything substantive, I'm afraid, but there doesn't seem to be much alternative!

Merry Christmas, all!

Default VNN Alternative?

What about The Villages television station? I don't subscribe to Comcast but is VNN still viable? Haven't heard anything lately.

Default Dumb down media

Moving here from Orlando, we naturally began subscribing to the local paper.
IMHO, this type of newsprint as well as that of the local TV station is contributing to the "dumbing down" of this area.
Yes there are a few articles which are of interest as there are from the TV station such as the Palin fiasco. But if you want news from ALL OVER the area, I prefer the Sentinel and the Orlando TV stations.
Just recently, they had breaking news about the Caylee Anderson thing, no reaction from the local station. They kept the same loop going all day. Thank God we get 2, 6, 9, and FOX.
Same with the local radio station. Been here two years and I may have missed something, but the only "live" coverage I've ever heard has been the "Grand Opening" of some business. Nothing to do with a news event.

Again this is my opinion ........... I could be wrong. (Dennis Miller)

Neat bumper sticker. Went like this: "It's God's job to judge terrorists. Our job is to arrange the meeting!"

Be a gentleman, remove your hat/cap when entering a building and dining out!

My daily media regimen is The Daily Sun then the Orlando Sentinel and NY Times on line editions. Not surprisingly, you'll see similar articles in each, although each has their own spin.
