Default Villages vs stonecrest

I am sure that there are many happy people living in Stonecrest, hence I am not trying to flame anyone. I just wanted to relay a personal experience and try and save some people from making the costly mistake my mother did.

My mother and step father had decided to move to florida. They had visited the wife and I several times here in TV and liked the area. They decided that TV homes were too close together, it was too busy here, and that they could buy a much larger home for the money in Stonecrest and then just come to the town squares etc and it would almost be like they lived in TV.

I tried my hardest to talk some sense into them , but fell on deaf ears. They moved about a year and a half ago. Within 3 months they knew they had made a big mistake and put their home up for sale. Their biggest complaint, among others, was that their neighbors were very unfriendly. When the moving van unloaded their stuff , the neighbors just kind of came out into their yards to gauk. They often had negative run ins with their neighbors.

It took them well over a year ( and a loss of MANY thousands of $)to sell their Stonecrest home. Today they moved into their new home in Poinciana. Their new Villages neighbors could not be more friendly Almost their whole street has come by to introduce themselves, bringing food, welcome cards, inviting my step father into their golfing group as the snowbirds are starting to leave. They could not be more overjoyed with their decision to come to TV. Lately my mother has gone into poorer health and it does my heart good to see her enjoying life again.

Thank you, florida's friendliest hometown. You people continue to amaze me.

What a wonderful ending to your folks' move to Florida. They will probably enjoy life more than ever after their poor experience in their other home. Here's hoping they have many happy, productive and fun years in their new 'digs.'

Your story is a great example of what makes The Villages work so well. Thanks for sharing.

When we came down to TV for our first lifestyle visit about 4 years ago, we too looked at Stonecrest but saw such a wide difference in services and activities that it was a no-brainer. I will admit that you can purchase more house for your money at Stonecrest and you can visit the town centers but actually living in TV is as close as you can get to heaven on earth.

Great story Jeffy. I'm very happy for them.

All we can do is live from this day forward - we have no other choice.

Good for them !! We've been here 10 years now. Quit pinching ourselves every day to make sure we aren't dreaming.....just pinch ourselves every other day now. It's not for everyone I'm sure, but based on what we read and talk to other folks at the squares, there are a heck of a lot of us that are on the same page.

Talking

We have NEVER regretted moving here. No other place was as well planned and the residents are great. While I do lose my patience with the developer from time to time, you couldn't budge me out of our courtyard villa with a bomb!!!! We are loving our life and only wish we could have retired sooner and moved here sooner!!!!!!!
