This post is like catnip to those that hate anyone being anywhere a golf cart can go. It's hilarious! People against walkers, runners, cyclists will make up and add to stories, laws, and statutes to prove their devotion to clearing MMPs of anyone but carts. Bottomline...no matter if a sidewalk is 1 foot away...if a golf cart driver causes or is involved in an accident on a MMP because of their failure to yield to to any of the
above, they are legally liable. I absolutely assure any of these golf cart only zealots, a civil suit is following right behind any traffic violations etc. before the dust clears. Everyone, enjoy your day! :-)

I'm not sure that is the point here.
This thread is about pedestrians on cart/bike lanes that run along the roads, NOT MMPs.
Nowhere did I see a post that stated any cart driver wanted exclusive use of MMPs
Nowhere did I see anyone post that it is OK to hit a pedestrian, even if that pedestrian is violating the law.
Nowhere was a statute "made up", you can clearly read the applicable laws online

So basically, that post made no sense whatsoever, and was "hilarious"

Enjoy your day!

"This post"...........unclear as to which post, but the original post has nothing to do with hating, making up, a devotion.

The OP is to share on-going observations, the stupidity of some walkers/runners and someone is going to get hurt.

Only Reckless Driving and criminal traffic violations (DUI, Vehicular Homicide, etc) can be enforced on private property.

Non-criminal traffic statutes only apply on private roads where the general public is permitted to operate motor vehicles, which excludes Villages MMPs)(no golf carts are not motor vehicles, and LSVs are not permitted on the MMPs). See FL AG legal guidance to the City of Apopka.

Not interested in arguments. I'm a retired FL cop, traffic homicide investigator, and expert witness on traffic enforcement issues. This was literally my job for 25 years.

It appears that Florida laws feel golf carts are motor vehicles (see FL Statute 316.003(29))

I would like to read the FL AG legal guidance to the City of Apopka as it contradicts long-standing guidance here in the Villages. However, I have not yet been able to find it. Can you provide a link?

Once again, I have to remind you NOT to confuse people with the facts, especially those that have made (their) definitive statement and are "not interested in arguments.:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

Being new to the villages area and someone who walks, runs, bikes, uses a golf cart and drives a car I appreciated the conversation.

Funny and pretty much true. But what does that have to do with pedestrians illegally walking on cart lane

When cart traffic is congested both ways, I also step off the path if there is a convenient spot. I don’t move over routinely because it sends the wrong message. Non cart traffic has equal rights and deference to carts encourages cart drivers to drive even more recklessly. BTW, I am also a frequent cart driver. I wish everyone would experience the MMPs and non-sidewalk streets from all modes, cart/walking/ biking/wheelchair. The perspective gained would be invaluable.

No fait accompli ?

unfortunately you can not prevent the illegal pedestrian from appearing before your gc . That's a lei. when faced with a no fait accompli, eg illegal street pedestrian in my path or any other multitude of life's daily crises i've learned to say to myself " patience is a virtue" and more importantly, " what would jesus do" . That defuses me. What might work for others is to consider the illegal pedestrian a " low IQ walker," and have a laugh at their silliness.

What would Jesus do? Similar to kicking the moneychangers out of the temple, he'd kick the pedestrians out of the cart lane :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

Yes, and much good it does to the dead or severely injured person. Yes?

My ex neighbor had brain tumor operated on, but when wife was out he took his cart out as usual, running over his garbage bags etc. He was not caught for sometime. Another one would drive his car across Odell Cir without ever looking if there was traffic. We have various people who are driving around and should not be. If you are walking or running, be careful out there. It won’t be any fun suing someone from your hospital bed.

You're 100% correct about the amount of people here that shouldn't be driving. When I'm out running, my head is on a swivel and I'm hyper aware.

When we go out for a ride on our motorcycle, we get out of the bubble asap.

There a couple (buffoons) who walk on Odell Circle that I sometimes see - she’s on the sidewalk and he’s in the golf cart lane. I once thought that he was on a suicide mission, but she couldn’t be that lucky.

I see it everyday.

Walkers / Runners walking in the wrong direction on the "cart paths" (whatever you want to call the paths).

Walkers / Runners in the cart lane on roads when there is a sidewalk right next to them.
