By law the advertised price is what they have to sell it for . It was probably a Wednesday special Aldi's is a remarkable store for many reasons and we have found the empoyes there to be very helpful and polite. Aldi's also own Trader Joe's Aldi's is not the only store that has made this mistake.

Aldi
You have to be careful and check the prices for sure at any store, I go around all the stores to get what I consider for me to be the best buys, sometimes Aldi's products are not so good but I would get quite a lot there, other than the meat. Freshmarket is good!

We shop at Aldi's in Leesburg and haven't had any negative issues. Aldi's is considerably cheaper than Publix on most items. Even small savings add up.

I actually enjoy shopping the variety of stores we have available here. I mainly use Publix, but I go to Sam's for certain items, Aldi's for their Milk, Butter, some of their vegetables and I love the huge variety of German foods and chocolate they have, and the other half likes their wine prices. I also shop Win-Dixie (love their shaved beef and Hoagie rolls to make my own Phili Steak subs) and I like their meats, and I also shop WalMart for certain items, and let's not forget Fresh Market, love that gourmet store. Personally, I think we are very fortunate to have as many choices for shopping that we do have here. I have NEVER lived anywhere where so many food shops were available in such a small area, and I have NEVER had the time to shop around before so I am a happy camper.
I think some of us complain too much and don't see just how fortunate we are. So you'll hear no gripe from me about our availability of stores!:BigApplause: |
Clapping my hands too !!

Would love to know how/if Aldi corporate office replies to Bambi's email. Please keep us posted.

I hope corporate doesn't waist a lot of resources answering the complaint. It kind of makes me mad when people jump on an error and demand the unreasonable price. I don't think they will because that is how they keep costs to us down, no wasted hand holding. But this is just me your opinion will most likely vary.
Aldis runs a tight ship no waste no fuss. That is the reason they are sooo much less than Publics and beats Fresh market like a bad drum. We use them for Butter Lettuce over a dollar cheaper per head. I shouldn't tell this because they will probably run out from the stampede. Hass Avacodos always way less expensive, cauliflower, and many other products. My biggest complaint is they only accept cash or debit cards. I don't carry cash and I don't trust debit cards. So every time we go to Aldis we have to stop at an atm. But a small inconvenience for lower prices and sometime superior products. Like all stores they have some bad product. I remember I got a steak at Fresh Market that was really tough and expensive. |

When I got home I noticed that the package was stamped "pork chops, $4.99 per pound". I went back and brought this to the managers attention and he, again, gave me a refund. The last straw was during the holiday season when I bought tortilla chips. It was December, I was making something to take to a gathering. When I opened the package, the smell about knocked me over. Judging by the smell, the chips were old and rancid. Sure enough, when I checked the date, the bag had an October expiration date. The chips carried a Fresh Market brand. There definitely was nothing fresh about them. I had been burned three times and decided not to go back to the store. I emailed Fresh Market headquarters and told them my story. In their reply, the representative assured me that the manager would want to know and that my name had been passed on to the store and I would be called (I never was). So I never returned and I have repeated this story to everyone. There are no yellow signs but there are other ways to cheat a customer. |
I'm not certain, but I believe it is against the law to deceptively advertise one price and charge another. In MA., supermarkets often had a policy that if something was mis-marked you got it for free.

Aldi's is a German company with a unique and very successful business model. All business, no warm and fuzzy. Could it be that what some see as bad attitudes is simply a reflection of very busy employees doing their jobs? Think about it. Do you ever see their employees standing around chitchatting?
They pay their employees very well and are a demanding employer. IMO it's largely a cultural thing. AFA this particular incident, who really knows? Have you ever had a bad day or made a mistake? I don't think it rises to the level of "warning" needed. If anyone thinks there's a conspirancy afoot, don't shop there. Geez! |
