OP, as others mentioned this contract is way overpriced. Cancel by certified mail and contact Home Depot regarding this outrageous contract. Home Depot should take them of their list of potential contractors. Always get more than one bid before signing anything similar. Good luck to you.

OP, if you haven't already cancelled the contract in writing, I would send an email. A certified letter may not get there in time to meet the 3 day limit. An email will provide written evidence of the cancellation.

Your installer should be ashamed to even give you an estimate like that. Water softeners cost between approximately $400 to perhaps $1200 depending on size and manufacturer so do the math. Would you think some CPVC piping, pipe cleaner, glue, and 2 drains (emergency overflow drain and recharge drain) with your new softener cost over $6700? I installed a Lowe's Whirlpool softener in our old house for about $600 total.

I too installed the Whirlpool from Lowe’s. My wife had allergy issues since moving here and, after trying many remedies, we thought the issues may have been in the high amount of additives put into our water. The reviews I read for the Whirlpool said it would last 3 to 5 years. I thought that was O K and still cost effective. I paid a local plumber to install it. Now, 9 years later, I am WAY ahead of the game, cost wise. It still works very well. I am so very glad I didn’t spend thousands of dollars. We also added a water filter. Softeners do not remove the additives.

He told me I needed the EC5-CV75 model and the total package costs $6795. That seems a bit high but it's been a while since I purchased a water softener. Any ideas? I have 3 days to cancel if this is a scam? Thank you,

Been here over 20 years you don’t need one.

Springwell Whole House Water Filtration System

Has anyone had experience with Springwell Water Systems for whole house filtering? The CF1 is rated at 9 gallons per minute which would work well for 1-3 bathrooms and costs around $800 if installed by homeowner.

Buy Nova

We have hard water so most homes need water softener (a chem test reading of 6 grains+ Could benefit) plus our water had ab odor we found odd compared to water we had from our well in NH so we added a carbon filter (not the little cartridge type but a 4’ high unit filled with carbon)
Most of you get talked into the cartridge filters which do nothing for hardness. A real 31000 or 40000 grain water softener should be maybe $2300 plus install

Check out Nuvo, a new fangled water softener. I have Nova (not related) whole house water filtration. It is very good. If I choose to do a traditional water softener, I'll have them come back and install one. I'm still going to check out Nuvo.

Thanks to everyone who gave advice. I canceled the order & am now scheduling Nova to come & give me a quote. We definitely need something as the water here is very hard & leaves a scum in my coffee cup. We were so happy with a Sears Elite at my other house but Sears is no more. I am overwhelmed by the positive replies and encouragement!

Whoa! I would cancel immediately. Way too high.

Most people use Nova, Pelican, or don't buy anything. I chose to not buy anything and I am happy with my water.

That is a rip off check out discountwatersoftners.com website on line. Make your purchase then hire a plumber to install it. I purchased a Genesis 2 upflow premier for less than 900.00 and installed it myself. A plumber would be less than a thousand making total cost under $2000.00
