Sam,

It's "down the shore" in Jersey, too. I goofed. :)

Aren't waterview homes more prone to being near sinkholes, especially if they are manmade like the water retention ponds?

I am writing this down John. This is comforting to know. :o :o :o >:(

I find this a bit frightful. How do you know if the the alligator is zigging and zagging with you? Do you glance back?

I've heard pros and cons on the zig-zag method of evasion. I've also been told to jab your finger in their eye to make them release your body parts. I sure hope it never comes to that!! As for the birds, I have seen them near gators. Go figure. :dontknow:
When I venture down near the lake, I am not initially admiring the lake's beauty. I looking first for snakes and gators...or gators and snakes. The gators tend to lay up behind my neighbors homes but I have never seen one in my yard. I've seen them on my street..in the street...but not in my yard. And they are very, very quick.

Folks, you may find this hard to believe, but Sam is a brave woman who actually likes Gators. :dontknow: If it were me and I'd seen a gator in my street, I'd be moving on! Fast.

Sam, just a suggestion. Always carry a large stuffed turkey with you when admiring the lake. That way you can throw the turkey to keep the gator busy while you're zigging and zagging your way back to the house. evil6

LOL. Great idea, Barefoot. I do approach cautiously. Some local kids fish down there and the ambassador came by and yelled to them about the gators. They told her the gators don't come up to this section. Ummmhmmmmm.
A neighbor told me he saw a big coyote in his yard last evening. He is an avid hunter and knows his critters. Something has been tearing up trash bags.

It is certainly no surprise that Gators come hand in hand with water view homes. (Note my return to topic.) ;D

There are a lot of "preserve" areas in TV. It doesn't surprise me there are coyotes. A woman who lives on San Marino Drive told me she saw a black panther several times in the preserve area in back of her house.

I personally love wildlife (other than gators). We just need to be aware that we shouldn't have dogs and small children unattended in any waterfront or preserve areas. If we stay alert, we should all be able to co-exist happily. lovehorse
