When we first moved here, we met a very nice couple. The wife had an unusual first name. She told us that her mother had given her that name because of her friendship with a Native American. I asked her if she knew what her name meant. She grinned and said, "Yes. It means 'Drinks like fish'."

We drove through a town of WaWa in Canada a few years back. They had that flying goose symbol on a sign.

They were popping up all over the place at our old home. Coffee is equal to DD. The building and coffee area is as clean after a year as it was day one. Just a great overall experience and value.

So basically this Wawa is a cleaner gas station with more convenience fast food than most. I don't get it !

Go Dawgs 07-02-2016 09:02 PM

Wawa is legit!

Sooner or later it seems most everything finds its way to the general area of The Villages. Boy howdy----now we are getting another convenience store. It just keeps getting better and better.

From 2004 to 2011 I lived across the street from a WaWa. It was great at first, but after awhile it was a real nightmare trying to get to a gas pump. You generally had to wait for someone to leave and then try to beat someone else to the pump. I'm pretty happy with the Marathon station on 466A, the air is also free and always works.

Inside the WaWa, it was nice, but no different than any other large convenience store except for the subs. I usually bought the subs that were ready made in the little plastic boxes that sat in the cooler display in the middle of the store. Once in a while I would place an order and had one made. The touch-screen order system had you decide on everything from type of bread to mayo or mustard, bacon, cheese, I don't think no two sandwiches came out alike.

They added a second WaWa in my town, here's a photo of two cars getting together at the pumps in Bel Air, Maryland.

This is one of the screens for ordering, there is more, it's almost like a test.

Don't get me wrong, I love WaWa Subs, especially if my only other choice was a Subway Sub, those are terrible. However, my favorite is Jersey Mike's Subs. Last week I was at their shop in front of Target and I asked the manager if they were expanding in the local area. He said they are considering putting a store in front of Walmart by NYPD Pizza. That's only a 1/2 mile from the new WaWa location. If that happens, I know where I'll be eating.

Always enjoy those that have no knowledge of the subject of these threads must have a negative position to be part of the narrative.

According to the news site that cannot be named, the new WAWA will be located on the northwest corner of the intersection of County Road 466 with U.S. 301.

Thanks Schaumburger. I read the online newspaper but I missed that article.

Wildwood or Oxford

Be interesting to see what it does to the traffic at that intersection. That land will be annexed into Wildwood.

466 and 301 intersection I thought was in what is called Oxford. Has city of Wildwood expanded that far north? It wouldn't surprise me---just a thought.

It was annexed, see Wildwood commission reports.

justjim 07-05-2016 01:38 PM

Thanks Bogie. Perhaps Oxford is not incorporated or land does not need to be contiguous to be annexed in the State of Florida. A WAWA is a pretty good size business and would be considerable taxes for Wildwood.
