I also have quantum fiber and YouTube tv. This months bill around $105. Last month it was $187 with an increase coming this month from Xfinity. Would have been over $200. Best decision we ever made regarding internet and tv

Spectrum internet is 49.99 per month.

thank you...

I switched to YouTube TV from Dish and love it especially the unlimited DVR. You will need to send the equipment boxes back. ( they should send you empties to pack in) and then if in the ground in concrete, probably need a landscaper to pull it out. All the dish items on top of a pole, the trash should take. Mine was on the house and I left it there when we sold. Dish did not want it.

Love our Xfinity/Comcast triple play. Love to just speak to the controller and it will find the program in a second.
I seriously thought about cutting the cord but by the time you buy all the extra$, you are paying close to the same. I was at a friend's and he was trying to find a movie. He admitted it is a pain in the butt at times to get the channel/program you want. He said much of the time streaming is inconvenient compared to his previous system.
We all have choices and that is a good thing.

I don't know how your friend is connected to streaming. I have chrome cast connected to my TVs. There is a button on the right top of the remote, you press it and say what movie you want to see. If it is available anywhere it will appear on the screen and sometimes there is more than one way to get the movie you want, and it will give you a choice. It takes seconds. Also, you do not pay for unlimited video recording. As I stated in an earlier post you can also buy extra services and drop them when they don't have what you want with a click on your mouse. I also stated I have 5 TVs and will save over $600 in equipment rental yearly.

When we made the switch, we just replaced the dish with an Over The Air antenna so we can get some of the local (sub) channels that aren't included in YT TV.
Otherwise, you have to dig out the cemented in post or cut it off below grade level.

... and who provides you with Internet, and at what cost?

mark100 01-04-2023 08:51 PM

When you close your account and pay the final bill, remove it and carry it out to the garbage. You may want to check with your Dish provider if they want the head. (Receiving Unit)
We switched to Quantum and service from Direct Streaming. Very happy and saved $80+ a month. Also, there are no contracts. Good luck.

Leave it in until your sure you like your decision. Just saying...

Who is the provider of quantum? Spectrum?
Local contact?

There is a streaming app but it doesn't work well IMO because you can not enter channel #'s.

That's true of the DISH Network app and seems to be true of all the services like YouTubeTV. The apps are meant to work with FireSticks and Roku sticks and other devices that lack numeric buttons. I'm tempted to give up on DISH Network in favor of YouTubeTV but the idea of scrolling through dozens of channels to get to the one I want really doesn't appeal.

That's what makes the Directv Stream a great option when you use their box. It uses a standard directv remote with numeric buttons. My channel package is still the same and about $100 less than when I had the directv dish, dvr, etc. and I still have dvr capability (using cloud storage) with this stream package. You can see the little box here: Directv Stream

I looked at going to youtube tv but it was missing some channels that we sometimes watch. Finding another package for those channels was more $ and added another service to scroll through. Having been a directv customer since 1998, we were used to their channel numbers, the menus, etc and I decided to try their stream option. Very satisfied with our choice. They were selling refurb boxes for about $50. DO NOT BUY one off of eBay. Directv stream did an update on their boxes last summer and if a box didn't get the update then, it is now a brick and is being sold on eBay to unknowing customers. There are no contracts so you could sign up for a month, buy the refurb and test the waters. Be sure to sign up online so that you can get the unlimited dvr.

We have internet with Centurylink/Quantum 200 mbps stream 3 tv’s laptop and tablet it's $30 monthly. Stream IPTV locals, sports, and entertainment @ $20 monthly but no DVR. We have been doing this for 5 years+ with minor issues

Century Link in my area (Bonnybrook) only had 15 MPS service available, not enough for 2 TVs and 2 computers. In my old area (Santiago) they had put in fiber optic lines and had faster service. It will never get faster here because everyone are taking out land line phones.

Comcast just raised AGAIN... it never stops with them, running almost $200 now for two TV's and internet. But, while people post on here about getting internet rates of $45 and $50 a month, we asked our present provider (Comcast) and found if we drop them for our TV service, our internet rate would move to $96 a mo. and that's not for their high speed/high use service we would (assume ? ?) we'd need to use a streaming service like UTube ? I know this is going to attract opinions from many directions, but, if we don't ask for input, we just don't know how to figure if it would be any savings for us ?

Every year (current sub 2 yr) I just cancel and sign up again as new customer online switching back and forth between me and my wife. I have had new customer pricing probably for the last 30 years between ComCrap, Fios, DirecTV and Dish. My 3rd "Villages" "new sub" starts Feb 1. ALWAYS do it online. NEVER call or go to their store.

I priced the streaming services and they weren't a heck of a lot less than ComCrap and I much prefer actual DVR's vs. streaming. Many folks spend more than the monthly difference every week on beer. ;)

ComCrap is the devil, but sometimes, with a little effort, one can beat the devil at it's own game.

I watch Dish from back home on the firestick.

We have Comcast and just did a lot of research on switching our service and yes Internet is the problem. Do you know how much speed you have with Comcast? We could probably cut back on our speed since one of the bloated Internet photo services I used is no longer available. We have 800mbps and have heard people with up to 10 devices are doing well on 400. For our current service, Comcast quoted us $79. Find out what speed Comcast is quoting you for because they will be happy to give you more than you need.

Such good advice, and I don't think we really have to guess that once streaming becomes the main/majority choice, the cost will definitely be going up, and up, and up some more; it's inevitable. Wish our entire population of the USA would demand a system we found in a number of other counties: you chose a price package you can afford, then choose the channels you want IN that package according to the number allowed in the package you choose. It make far more sense as people have such diverse interests and desires in TV. I think (not sure ? ?) streaming is similar ? If you are a news junky you can just subscribe to 8 or more news sources ? A sports junky can just select sports oriented channels, etc. I suspect ? But don't actually understand how streaming "sells" their service/packages !

We still have DirecTV sat here in Indiana and at our home there. Steaming is cheaper for sure....for now. But prices will be going up steadily due to the cost of programming. I've read a number of atricles on this. Many streaming services are losing money or not making money due to the cost of programming.

I'm looking at DirecTV and YouTube streaming, but as someone else said they don't have some channels we have now.

Btw, we've been with DirecTV since 1996 and have been happy with them, except for the cost. lol
