Default Weather Alert Radios

With last night's near miss - what's the verdict on how effective your weather alert radios were. I'd be interested to know if the new boosted signal was better than in February.

Ours worked really well. Only problem we had was that we got to many alerts for areas that we did not need to worry about. We are going to have to change the coding on our radio so that it covers fewer counties.

We're on Long Island, but planning to come down next week for a short visit. How near was the "near miss"?
We were there in February when the big one came through - in the Belmont Villas in the Village of Belvedere, so nothing happened to our area, but it was pretty scary all the same.

I have one from Radio Shack. They offer several models. I purchased their best one at $70.00 or so. I was told that it would ony alert me of problems in my area. I got 3 alerts last night all only for my area.
I would buy the same one again.
