Default welcome gift?

Hello, our parents are arriving in a couple days and are very excited about beginning another chapter at the Villages......We were hoping to have a small gift delivered to welcome them...nothing big or expensive. Is there anything that everyone needs there first couple days there? Beer, chips? wine? cookies? any suggestions welcome.

That's very nice and thoughtful. Want to be adopted?

A lot depends on what they bought -- new or resale and, if resale, turnkey or unfurnished. I don't know if it is doable here, but the nicest gift I got when I first moved in my townhouse was a basket of condiments -- boy, did that ever come in handy!

Other nice gifts: a basket of soaps, lotions; cheese and bread basket. I know there is at least one shop that sells fruit on a stick bouquets and, of course, the cookie bouquets. Gift cards to Publix or SweetBay or Barnes & Noble.

Edible arrangements is a nice idea! Look them up online. That or maybe a gift card they could use at restaurants? Like one of those Visa/Mastercard ones...you can get them at Publix, etc.

They used to have "Villages Money" that you could buy (at face value) from the sales dept and they would deliver it - used to send my mom money instead of flowers.

Don't know if it is still available?
