Default What CLUBs do you belong to in TV?

Since participating in the TOTV forum I've learned that at TV....... it's not location, location, location that matters, but LIFESTYLE, LIFESTYLE, LIFESTYLE that's the most dominant attraction. On all the TOTV chatter I don't read much about the actual clubs and I'm very curious as to who belongs to what club?

Yes, I know there's a directory of clubs somewhere. I'm more interested in y'all's personal description. Thanks for any responses ;D

I'm not a joiner. Never have been, probably never will be. As yet, I don't belong to any clubs but there are a few I'm considering -- Village Idiots, Parrotheads to start. I do play bridge and there are a group of us in my neighborhood who get together to play dominoes and Mah-Jongg. Basically, I go play games with some of the clubs but really prefer to do it with friends in each others' homes.

CIB:

As you well know, there's an enormous variety. I like to tell outsiders about "The Pink Button Collecting Club" because it seems like a very unlikely entity! On the other hand, if you were into collecting pink buttons, I'm sure you could find others here who do likewise!

My memberships are mainly social entities. The Sunset Pointe Social Club and Fenimore Friends (my Village and my street). The Saint Louis Club (whence I came to TV) and the Lake County Chapter of the Military Officer's Association of America (MOAA) reflect a bit of my past. The Villages Homeowners Association (VHA) attracted me at the very first, and I certainly belong, and attend meetings. However, it is far more of a "follow-the-agenda" organization than a social one!

Of course, I consider TOTV a sort of club, so I'd include it here. I did belong to the Independent Voter's Club, but it never did get off the ground and seems to have died a slow and agonizing death! I also meet with the Mensa Club, not because I necessarily qualify for membership in Mensa, but because the local members are so nice and we have some fascinating meetings - plus some of us go out for dinner afterwards!

Support groups are also club-like venues. I meet regularly with the "Airheads," a group of folks afflicted with some sort of breathing problem. Many are on oxygen, either at night only or even 24/7, and so have some limitations to their activities. Most have emphysema and/or chronic bronchitis and/or asthma, etc.

I also meet regularaly (once a month) with folks suffering from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). We have good, informative meetings, and a good time, too!

I've often considered joining one or more of the various singles clubs, but have not yet done so. Similarly, I've thought about joining up with one or more travel clubs, but somehow seem never to get around to it!

All TOTV-ers hope you can shed yourself of your Oregon roots and return to Florida!

swinfla........ THANK YOU, that's exactly what I was curious about; the personal touch to Clubbing in TV. All your activities are very interesting. I'll have to check & see if I have any pink buttons 1rnfl

So, who else belongs to what clubs ???

As swrinfla I consider TOTV a club because I have met so many TOTVers by setting up a time to meet in the Squares to get together and socialize, this happens several times a month. As for the traditional clubs, I belong to 3 social clubs in my village (Duval) one being a neighborhood club. We have a set day we meet every month, usually at a rec center, and have a activity planed around the event such as a poker run or game night or block party. I also belong to the Sumter singles club. There I go to the monthly meeting and see what activities are planned and sign up accordingly to those that interest me. I always sign up for the monthly Saturday golf scramble where we play on an executive course and have lunch at the Palmer Country club after the play.

DickY.... THANKS for your input! I guess every Village has its own social clubs and that's so neat. I live on 4 acres and hardly ever see my neighbors :

Any more Clubbers who can share their activities on TOTV ?

The list of clubs of course is endless. Thats what makes TV so Wonderful, and if they dont have one your interested in, you can start one! How nice is that?

Being a snowbird now there is a limit to how much I can join when Im only there a few months a year but my favorites are: The Abraham Hicks Club (spiritual)
The Chicago Club
The Course in Miracles Group
When I get back to TV I plan on looking into The pet Lovers Club
The hiking club
The Village Idiots
Line dancing group

That should keep me busy for awhile!

We like to play cards so my hubbie and I belong to the Euchre club, and play twice a week. I belong to a couple of book discussion groups, and my husband belongs to the woodworking club. There is so much offered, I think you could find just about anything you want!

All clubs are open for everyone. You'll find lots of these subjects in the weekly recreation guide. The only thing I did every week without fail was Yoga. Nonie and I attended the weekly Abraham-Hicks group listed in the Rec Guide. And then we also attended a second weekly meeting we heard about from attending the scheduled A-H meeting. There is also a parapsychology meeting at Mulberry. Oh, there are tons of meetings and groups on every available subject. You'll run out of time before you run out of things to do, I promise you!

I planned to join many things in the six months I was there (October to April). I ran out of time and didn't do many at all. We just had so many visitors from Canada (people we hardly know became our sudden best friends). And we met so many new people in TV we wanted to spend time with.

When I return in October for six months I'm planning to definitely join Pet Lovers, Abraham-Hicks again, Horsing Around, Canadian Club, Belevedears (local ladies group), Village Idiots, Mah Jongg, and get involved in some volunteer work. ...... See, there is just not enough time to experience all the marvelous things TV has to offer. And I don't even golf.

Just talking about returning to TV makes me so happy.

Barefoot - off the subject but is there a way that you can work towards dual citizenship? Then you could stay in TV more than 6 months I assume.

Russ, I would sell my first-born child for dual citizenship! Strangely enough, even through I own a house in the U.S., I have to comply with U.S. regulations that I only stay in the U.S. for 183 days in any calendar year. It would be virtually impossible for me to get dual citizenship or a green card. :dontknow:

Last year was our first year and we could only spend March in TV. We did play lots of golf, but I also went to belly dancing at Nonie's, line dancing lessons, pickle ball lessons, and of course the TOTV gathering at Crispers. Never did find the time to do the bike ride exploration lead by Village Kid (VK2, next March, right?). Next year we also want to see if there is a lower intensity kayak group as we aren't sure we can meet the physical stamina requirements of the regular kayak club. I imagine when we spend more time in TV we will get involved in other things too.
