Default What to do with old toilet?

We had new flooring put in the master bathroom and had a new toilet put in at that time. The flooring guys did a fine job taking out the old toilet and putting in the new one but they wouldn't take the old toilet. I left it out with the trash pickup and they wouldn't take it either. I took it to the landfill in Lake County and they wouldn't take it either. How do you get rid of old toilets?

Put it in your front yard with a sign saying "For Sale". It will disappear by the next morning.

Bash it apart with a hammer. Put some out each trash day in a bag. It'll be gone in no time.

In our NJ town, they won't take anything extra at all. Using this same method, I disposed of beds, box springs, a recliner, a couch bed, etc. The key was just making the bits small enough. Lots of use of bolt cutters, hammer, knives, etc.

Don't leave us all with a cliffhanger.

We listed our old toilets on Facebook and we sold them to a gentleman who was renovating an older house. We sold them for $25 I think.

Call the sanitation office and schedule a pickup. It works.
