Default Grey pipes

I am considering a move to The Villages within the next year (I hope). I have looked at some properties for sale on the internet. I see references to replacement of 'grey pipes'. What are these?
Also, is anyone aware of any restrictions that would prevent obtaining someone from getting a VA loan for purchase of The Villages properties?

Russ: There are no restrictions on VA Loans as far as I know. VA loans are generally underwritten by commercial banks and the VA guarantees the loan in case of default (that's the way it used to work). You may get a better deal if you qualify for a conventional loan. I haven't heard much in regard to issues with "grey pipes" but I guess it may be a referral to a type of PVC plumbing. Our villa is about 4 years old and we haven't had any problems.

Grey pipes are the pipes that carry the sewerage.

Grey pipes were put into the many of the homes in the Country Club Hills and Orange Blossom area back in the late 1980's and early 1990's. The company was forced to replace those that didn't not pass an inspection because they were didn't pass standards for quality control. So when they so they were replaced that means the originals didn't pass inspection at the time of the legal action and they were replaced. The others that weren't replaced passed inspection and to this day seem to work just fine. These homes are now 16 to 18 years old and if they were going to have trouble they would have had it by now. I would say not to worry about grey pipes if that is what is keeping you from buying a home in The Villages.
