My first time living in the villages and joining Talk of the Villages most of the treads started nicely and stayed that way. Their were many who posted and all was kept friendly now their are a few who post all the time and are only happy if they attack someone or something. I wish they would grow up or go away.

I heard the ownership of ToTV changed as well. Again, "heard".

This was a great place for Newbie's, but it's run its course.

I have "felt" the change. Is it now owned by the relative of the long time owner who is a car dealer in Atlanta? The fellow who owned a cart repair business?

I feel it is completely different than it used to be.

I can’t speak to what was, but this trend is every where not just at TOTV. It is like a cancer spreading through our country.

I actually like the NOTHING thread and movie reviews and the like here on Talk of the Villages and I try to stay positive on just about every thread I post on this site.

Talk of the Villages is still a very good source for information about things happening here in the Villages.

There are also useful tips on surviving hurricanes; restaurant and book reviews; in addition to many other topics.

I feel it is completely different than it used to be.

I actually like the change. It is more polite than before and does not allow as many personal attacks on other posters nor organized cyber bullying.

One thing I see that has changed. Posts that are intended to be funny or some with a little cutting edge are quickly deleted.
Yet, some posters that post paragraph after paragraph saying the same in a slightly different way...add nothing.
Some can post snarky and not get deleted others posting similar posts are again quickly deleted.
I remember the NFL being called the "no fun league". Maybe that now applies to TOTV?

True dat! Not to mention the subliminally political comments that are in some posts that some see and "others" care not to.

Not sure what TOTV was like in the past. I like a bit of spice. Balanced views. I’m not talking about confrontations. As compared to everyone agreeing, saccharine sweetness etc. makes me look forwards to reading the posts each morning.

There are times where I’d like to ask a question of my fellow Villagers on this site, but I don’t because someone is always going to come back with a smart ass or insulting response. Why bother? Instead I go to my neighborhood site and ask. They are always very helpful. The difference is, on the neighborhood site, you may run into one of these neighbors who respond, so they are usually polite and informative. On this site, you may never know the person who responded as they are hiding behind a keyboard.

I just put some posters on the Ignore List if they have a habit of making that kind of response to legitimate concerns.

True words again. I will add also that some sure have a "holier than tho" and demeaning attitude also and are always "right".
