It was a Sherman fox squirrel.

That is indeed a squirrel-monkey. I think we might be talking about a monkey-squirrel.

A squirrel that has some monkey traits about it. Class phylum rodent not primate.

You probably saw a baby Skunk Ape. These are usually seen in the Everglades between Miami and Everglades City and related to the Abdominal Snow Man.

Correct, they are Sherman Fox squirrels and from some accounts can be aggressive. A friend and family were golfing last week, one jumped into thier golf cart looking for a hand out.

I am contemplating learning to play golf--if one of those jumped into my golf bag, you would have me to bury!!
