There is no plans by the developer to develop these properties. Two miles south of DeSoto & McClure - south of CR470 the developer owns most of the property for the next 6 miles going south, this will ultimately be developed over the next 20-30 years.
So, the real question is how long before we can drive our golf carts to Disney?

Oh please, stop with the relevant questions! People break out of maximum-security prisons all the time; don't you watch the movies? You don't think that Hollywood would deceive us into thinking something that's not true.

Been living in Florida for 20+ years and in The Villages for 12+ years. I can recall a couple of break outs from the prison with helicopters searching and notices on the news and along well traveled roads recommending people in the surrounding area taking caution and/or staying in their homes until the fugitives were caught.
So . . . it has happened.

Well, let's see. First get out of the cell block, then get out of the building, then get to an area where you can scale the razor wire with guard tower marksmen looking down at you, then pick up your bleeding carcass (from the razor wire) and try to make a run for the woods and swamp hoping a stray gator doesn't get you. Yeah, I think we're pretty safe.

I think it is a safe bet to assume the future will bring lots and lots of new houses and not nearly enough new Championship golfing holes.

With the new medical stuff they are bringing here we will all live to well over 100 years.

As a result new things to worry about.

i've been told so many things on what to look out for living near a prison. i suppose it never bothered us, because i'm not 1 of those nimby neighbors. im not @ all concerned-if 1 of these guys break out, the last thing i'd think they'd head for is brownwood square watching the hooligans,
i learned this prison is for snitch-types who need protection, & certain genders that may antagonize other inmates just by being there. yes, there's a few hardened types, that are kept under strict conditions. it's not a deal breaker, we still bought the villa

I've been living in Fenney for over 3 years and the only time I know of the prison being down here is when I read about it here. It's a heck of a lot better than being near a sewage treatment plant.

As someone who has been coming to The Villages since 2001 and owned a home since 2011, I have seen The Villages keep expanding to the south. So based on that experience, when I look at Google maps the answer to your question as to what is south of Fenny and Desoto, the eventual answer is the village of Fort Meyers, the village of Naples, and the village of Marco Island. It is just a matter of time. And some day it might even be the village of Havana as soon as the Morse family decides whether to build a golf cart bridge or a tunnel from Key West to Cuba.
