No I'm not so called liberal nut Job just someone who cares. So my question would be what have you done to help the world this year?

"spreading it around with charity"

I consider spreading the $'s around to carpenters, laborers, plumbers, technicians is more of a win-in.

Red walls.

davem4616 07-08-2021 08:39 AM

we replaced all the stainless steel kitchen appliances shortly after moving in with white appliances of a higher quality

the width of our home is extended 4 feet and 7 feet on the depth

the chandelier in the dining room came from Murano, Italy

Jazzcat 07-08-2021 08:50 AM

A Generac whole house generator, a Viking dual fuel range and a Toto bidet. All are “priceless”!😉

Opened up the wall between kitchen and dining in my Coronado model. Removed tub in guest bath, and replaced 30” box shower with open Roman shower in master bath. Much more modern.

Gas and electric at all appliance locations....plus on the lanai.

I'm trying to imagine what the dishwasher looks like. Do you have a picture? Sounds like a great idea.

Unusual Home Feature

My home has an illuminated lighthouse on the exterior and a turntable and mixer setup on the interior replete with supporting 8 track, cassette, cd player and VHS player. This is to play a very large vinyl, cassette, CD and VHS media collection also located on the interior.

mamamia54 07-08-2021 10:15 AM

None! I’m going to try for a note from the kids saying they love us. Of all the nice things, that’s the best so far!

What unusual feature does your home have that make it unique?

An anole that we've named "Ralph" that visits our lanai from time to time. :)

Nothing unusual, it’s just perfect for my wife and I. We love our home in The Villages!

Some ideas

Pull out shelving in the bottom kitchen cabinets and in the pantry so we can easily get to items in the back.
Custom master bedroom closet rather than the wire racks that seem to come standard.
Skylights are common in living area but we added one in the master bedroom and in the guest bathroom - both of which lacked light from outside and both of these tubes have solar powered "night lights".
We added soffett lights around the perimeter and put on dusk to dawn sensor AND also added a dimmer switch in the garage.
We added a chandelier over the dining area table on a dimmer switch. Makes for much nicer lighting than the standard ceiling lights plus can only light up the dining area.

I have never posted a picture before. I tried copy/paste and it did not work.
When (if) I figure it out I will post it.

How about 70 feet lap pool ( longest in the villages )? It's for sale for Olympic swimmers.

Bidets are the BEST

Want to improve your life for under $500 add a bidet toilet seat. We have one in each bathroom. I learned while traveling in Japan that this is the best way to comfort and cleanliness. Look up Brondell washlet 300. You'll need a gfci outlet installed near the toilet for power.

I’ve considered getting a whole house Generac generator.

Flgagg 07-09-2021 06:44 AM

2 sided gas fireplace (one side is in the extended living room and the other side is in the additional sitting area of the master bedroom)

2 lovable and adorable Papillons. They make my house worth more than money can buy.

If you’re serious about getting a whole house generator, if you sign the contract today, you might have to wait until 2022 to have the whole house electric generator installed. We ordered our whole house generator in January, a month after moving to Florida, and we’re still waiting. Maybe another month or two before we have the generator installed. The total cost is about $13K. If we didn’t have natural gas service, it would be a few thousand dollars more for the buried propane tank.

I think fireplaces in Florida are a total waste of money! We were surprised how many fireplaces we saw in Florida homes when we were house hunting. We had natural gas fireplaces in Minnesota in two different homes. We used the fireplace maybe 10 times after first moving in the house, then never again. To us, fireplaces are highly overrated. I guess we are just not fireplace people.

We aren’t beach people eithet. Once a month or every other month is enough. After a few hours, we’re tired of the beach. Some people are beach people and hang out at the beach at least 8 hours a day, almost every day.

Our Annamaria courtyard villa has the largest window configuration in our master bedroom that I’ve seen in TV homes—8 feet wide. Our first home here—a Designer—had one standard window in the master bedroom, maybe about 3 feet wide. What a difference!

And hubby and I thought we had a lot of wine at 300 bottles! 1000, impressive! Can I ask, where did you put your wine cooler?

I disagree. We had a wood burning fireplace in our living room in our Tampa house ( easily convertible to gas) and we used it a lot. We only used Duraflame logs. It w@s beautiful when the Christmas tree was up.

Miss our fireplace.
