35 mbp, started a 5mpb. Streaming one TV and light internet use on a computer is no problem. AT 5mbp a little buffering on the TV.

I'm paying for up to 100 mbps from Xfinity, getting 25. How can I improve?

for Xfinety users.... Is your $50 a month data "Capped". After X data download, they used to charge for each GB. Are the contracts still limited or "All you can download"?

I left Xfin for Centurylink. $45 (with taxes) for 60 download speed, unlimited. Lifetime contract.

Thanks.

You can test it by going to Fast.com and it will tell you your speed.

My Xfinity plan is for 1200 mbps, but I get 1403!

30 mbs through verizon, $20 a month. We stream netflix on tv, have a computer and two phones with no problems. If you aren't working from home I think it's plenty.

20 down, 2 up fixed $45 at CenturyLink. I steam everything and have no issues at all so paying for higher speeds would be just throwing money away. Higher speeds are a waste of money for many, in my opinion.

Not so sure about that.
From Xfinity, I am receiving 600 (six hundred) down and 24 up service. My computers and cell phones can't even keep up. When a technician was here he verified and actually got 670 down on his new phone. Overkill yes, but the cost is (using my own modem and my own wifi router) $50 TOTAL per month. Yes, that includes taxes and fees for one year. $50.00 TOTAL.

You have got to find the weakest link. Is this measured connected by an ethernet cable or is this measured over Wi-Fi?

If it's Wi-Fi, I suspect you are using the 2.5MHz band instead of the 5MHz band. Check your connection and move it to 5 MHz and check again.

Un-plug them and plug them back in...

Xfinity caps all data plans in MOST every state. Here in FL (and other states) the cap is 1.2 Terabytes which is a lot. There are 2 ways to pay to get around that which can be found on their website the least expensive starts with leasing THEIR modem and paying $10 more for unlimited (modem + unlimited = $25/month) the other way is to use YOUR MODEM and pay (IIRC) $30/month. The obvious winner is choice #1 as their modem (AKA Gateway) is pretty decent. I use about 1.5-1.8 TB/month so it was to my benefit to get their modem/Gateway.

Maybe 10 years ago or if your equipment goes back to Ma Bell days (or if your 10 year old computer runs Windows M.E.)

For modems and routers just unplug them, wait a couple of minutes, and then plug them back in and wait a couple of minutes.

I tested at our NC house last year and was puzzled that the speed over wifi was faster than my PC, which was hard-wired. Investigated and realized that the ethernet cable from the wi-fi router to the PC was an old Cat 3. Upgraded that and fixed the problem.
