I started working for Norfolk and Western Railway in 1966 as a Clerk-Stenographer. Drafted by Uncle Sam and spent 2 years in the Army as a low paid killer (infantry). Returned to the railroad after I got out in 1969 and stuck with it throught the merger with Southern Railway and then in 2001, I had a herniated disc in my back. They told me that I could not work unless I had it fixed. I had 35 years service, so I retired on disability with full pension benefits.

My wife worked for the local hospital, where she attended nursing school, for 27 years. She worked for 20 years in the Emergency Room and the rest of the time in Surgery Services. In 2003, she was having so much pain in her back that she had to file for disability because of Fibromyalgia and has been retired since then.

After 4 1/2 years in the Navy as a Boatswain Mate and 38 years with the telephone company, (Southern Bell, Bellsouth and AT&T) as a construction manager. I called it quits in 2008 and bought a mini farm, mainly cut grass, grow vegetables and drink coffee. I am also a volunteer Fire Fighter and a CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) instructor. I serve as our county's CERT Coordinator as a volunteer. This way I get free coffee at our counties Fire Stations.
I am now waiting on my beautiful wife who has been an executive secretary for 35 years to retire or get fired, which ever comes first. We had our life style visit to the villages in August and can't wait to become a frog. She wants to spend a month in The Villages selecting a home before putting our farm on the market. Hope to be a part of your family within 12 to 18 months.
