What was your profession prior to retirement? This is really interesting.
A long time ago, when this forum was just born, I asked the same question. We didn't have many members then. It is fantastic to learn what people did in their working years. It's interesting too, that most people don't really talk much about their professinal lives outside of their close circle of friends. I really wanna know what you did. wav

Not retired yet! Am a teacher's assistant for severe behavior middle school students. Going to come down and look for a job over spring break. Just want a part-time job but at 54 must have benefits!! I detest the winters up here and hate only being in TV on school breaks!

Re: What was your profession prior to retirement? This is really interesting.
I retired after 32 years in the automobile business. Was sales manager at several large dealerships. One Chevrolet dealership was the 5th largest retail outlet in the country selling over 5,000 new units in a year and a Honda dealership that was the largest in the state. For the last 10 years was a manager at an auto auction which averaged over 1,000 units each auction day.
I have contributed to some conversations on Talk of The Villages about the automobile business and will continue to do so

Re: What was your profession prior to retirement? This is really interesting.
Retired Sept 1, 2007. On my birthday!!! Best thing I ever did.
Think I've posted this before, so forgive me if you're getting bored with it, but 42 years in the Cosmetic industry working on both coasts as a Packaging Design engineer (not really an engineer, but it sounds good). However, don't ask me if I can open up any of these new packages in the market to protect from tampering and pilfering, no way. Use my scissors all the time. shhhh, don't tell anyone. Kathie  P.S. I'm gonna love having all these nurses and paramedics around me in TV. I'll be sure to keep in touch with all of you. Thanks, K

Re: What was your profession prior to retirement? This is really interesting.
Not retired yet. I'm a dual career Boomer. Was a Chemical Engineering corporate Geek for Kimberly-Clark and worked in Environment, Energy, Scientific and Regulatory Affairs the last two decades (geez that sounds like a looong time as I typed that). Prior to joining Kimberly-Clark, I was a data crunching medical bioanalytical laboratory kind of Geek. Now, finally, I'm getting to use my medical credentials full-time as Administrator of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, North Florida/South Georgia VA Health Care System ....I love it and it's very personally rewarding. The vets are great and they have more than a few stories to tell. It is truly an honor and a pleasure to serve them.
And....oh yeah.....once in a while I help my spiffy spouse sell delicious ice cream .
