What was your profession prior to retirement? This is really interesting.

I love it and you are correct! When I first moved here the guy bagging my groceries at SweetBay told me he was a doctor in his former life!!!

BTW, husband was a firefighter for 28.5 years.

Me, variety of clerical-type jobs when needed, stay-at-home Mom rest of the time.

After 4 1/2 years in the Navy as a Boatswain Mate and 38 years with the telephone company, (Southern Bell, Bellsouth and AT&T) as a construction manager. I called it quits in 2008 and bought a mini farm, mainly cut grass, grow vegetables and drink coffee. I am also a volunteer Fire Fighter and a CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) instructor. I serve as our county's CERT Coordinator as a volunteer. This way I get free coffee at our counties Fire Stations.
I am now waiting on my beautiful wife who has been an executive secretary for 35 years to retire or get fired, which ever comes first. We had our life style visit to the villages in August and can't wait to become a frog. She wants to spend a month in The Villages selecting a home before putting our farm on the market. Hope to be a part of your family within 12 to 18 months.

Cool Migrant Avionics Tech

Retired MSG,USAF (Avionics), 24 years the hard way! 8 years active duty then a 17 year break in service, then 16 years Air National Guard. Ended my career in 2006 as a full time technition, NCOIC of the Electronic Warfare Shop, MO ANG (C-130's). Way too many deployments (can't have a war without someone to haul the beans and bullets!). Also worked as a pile-it for Eastern Air Lines (put it in the door and I'll pile it) ORD, SRQ & MCI and as a Avionics Mechanic for TWA, mostly at the Kansas City overhaul base.
The bottom half was a typesetter for The Chicago Sun Times and Williams Press (Star Publications) of Chicago Hgts, IL, Ad Builder for The Bradenton Hearld, and Admin Asst, National Advertising, The Kansas CIty Star.
I'm now looking for a job as a paino player in a bordello!
