Oh. I guess that would be one way to put a Bounty on their heads.

I almost started this thread last night as I was at my post office (Odell and Stillwater) and it sounded like it was raining. I look up and the ceiling was coated with bugs and they were blindly bumping into it making a racket...

Went there tonight and none were on the ceiling... there were many on the ground. I hope they had a good time

No idea what they are/were.....

Default Midges/ blind mosquitoes

I thank you for giving them a name. Now I know what to call them when I cuss them.

Here is some information about their life and times.

Default Bugs and Snakes

Gonna be a good bug crop this year. I've been seeing a few mosquitos lately and they're not blind, they bite. Must be the rain followed by warm weather.

I even saw my first snake, black, about two feet long. When it spotted me, it slithered away. Wowser, could that thing move fast. I had to distract my little dog so he wouldn't pounce on it.

Those bloody, rotten, bugs are worse than ever today. I wish I knew what they really are, they are so different than the ones from last year, maybe they are now just grown up?? I hate them with a passion and they upset my life so much. There are literally hundreds of them dead on the cement pad outside my screen door and I dare not even go out there to try to do anything with my plants, I will get eaten up alive, I agree with Barefoot, they do bite. This makes me totally unhappy, I think I'll go out dancing this afternoon to make myself feel better.

Any suggestions on what we can do about this? My neighbors are just rolling over and are disgusted to do anything about this. Please HELP!!

Kathie - I do have a suggestion. You could all move to the Village of Belvedere! We have a few mosquitos, but just a few, and no awful green bugs. I wonder if they're in the southern part of The Villages near 466A? Perhaps they like new home developments. Seems as if the Villages of Amelia and Hadly are rampant with the bugs.

Default spraying.....

I read in Saturday's newspaper that they will start spraying on Tuesday. Hopefully this will curtail their flying activities, as they are **everywhere**.

I live in Amelia, backing to a retention pond, and my house is COVERED with them. There must be millions of them (and I am NOT exaggerating) all over the eaves, my garage door, my screens, and I cannot walk out of my house without being attacked by them.

When I came home from work last night and pulled into my garage and closed the door with my remote, I got out of the car and I could hear them buzzing. I turned on the overhead light, and to my horror, there were probably 1/2 million of them @#$%& things on the ceiling and walls of my garage. My guess is that they got sucked into the garage when the door went up, and now they were trapped. This morning, half of them are dead on the floor, and I'm just waiting for the other half to croak.

When I called the District Property Mgmt offices @ 751-6713 last year, they said Sumter county was responsible for spraying. So, I called them @ 793-0240, and they said that they spray regularly for mosquitoes. But, I never heard the truck come around, nor did I see them at the pond.

I will call Monday morning and get on them again, as this infestation is ridiculously out-of-control.
