:boxing2: and that's all for now...

They'll be selling home sites below 466A VERY shortly. They need to prepare the infrastructure prior to beginning home sales. As you know TV wants all infrastructure (neighboord centers, golf courses etc.) in place before they open an area up to the agents.

a shame really that mature trees are being removed so that the villages can expand, and then as soon as building is completed more trees are planted to replace the ones they removed. wish building could be a more accomodating to existing trees.
and then there is the pollution factor....burning....most communities have banned all types of burning (private and public) for years....smoke is a pollutant. why not chipping up the trees to create mulch and compost (have you dug a hole in your yard and seen the soil down there.....sad stuff)

Jeff, Baby !!! You've got to get control of yourself , I would strongly suggest that you take a long trip this summer and not be here when they start the new golf cart paths north of 466 ( in July) . A man can only hug so many trees in his lifetime and the carnage this summer will probably put you over the edge ...You've gotta roll with the flow pal ....Even Al Gore admits that we need new paths (although his cart is street legal) ...We have the money and the votes and the need and the only thing standing in our way are trees....SO ITS CHAINSAW TIME PAL...and chips will be flying everywhere , no tree will be safe , Even the frightened Village of TallTrees is thinking of changing their name.........
But it will be worth it , nice wide paths , scenic view pull outs, lemonade stands ,a new Beale's store just for carts...I for one can hardly wait and just think, now leaves on our new paths ....

I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK..

Yup. Our view from our lanai is across 466A between Canal and Morse. We were hoping that this area would be one of the last areas to be developed under the theory that the western area around Brownwood would be the first to succumb to civilization. However, almost overnight huge sections of wooded areas have been removed and burned, preparing for the golf course and homes that will border it. Today there are some giant earth moving machines doing prep work. They did leave some sections of trees, so the land has not been completely denuded.

When I grew up, oaks as old as Atlanta were prevalent.* Developers actually worked around them and left them standing! It was a beautiful, hilly city with lots and lots of trees. Today, everything in the burbs of Atlanta is clear cut for development.

* Of course, at the time, Atlanta was only about 100 years old. (You might recall, speaking of what's that smell, that Sherman burned Atlanta to a crisp back in the 1860s.)
