It is 11 pm at night and I am NEVER up this late. We happen to have friends in from out of town so I am just winding down. My life partner is 53.....we are in bed asleep everynight no later than 10pm....actually I am in bed and on the lap top....but the rest of the family is sound asleep....usually by 9pm. I have a family...run two households....work a full time job....but love TV's and would live no where else on earth. I do not "party" like you 50+ people do....I have a hard time keeping up with all of you!!! Forget the couch....go right to the bed!! LOL |

Re: What's wrong in TV
My wife and I also have a few minor "gripes" about TV. #1 on my list is people who simply refuse to signal when coming off the rotaries. Maybe it was just a Maine thing but when you leave a rotary you signal your intention. #2 on my list and this is primarily for the guys. Most of us are 50-70 years of age. You were taught etiquette at one time. What happened? Take your Da#!% baseball cap off when entering someone's home, any building and especially when being seated at a table. I don't allow it in my home nor in public places with the kids/grandkids. #3 Is having to purchase bags to put recyclables in. We pay and do the work and the outfit that picks up the stuff gets the money for the cans, etc. What's up with that?
My wife's #1 gripe is people who park their golfcart at the shallow end of a parking spot. I don't like it either but I seldom drive the golfcart. As I stated, very small "gripes" but you asked!! Jerry Jackson (Calumet Grove) PS: One other is TOTV folks who do not sign their name when posting messages. |
Re: What's wrong in TV
Speaking of TOTV posters, I have noticed that many new members do not add to their profiles the places they previously lived. I, as many earlier members, always enjoy that. |
Re: What's wrong in TV
Jerry, posting your real name on the internet could be dangerous. Quote:

Re: What's wrong in TV
Jerry - My real name is in my handle so no need to repeat with every msg.
As far as hats go - we've lost that battle. It has become acceptable to wear hats at all times. We may still request it in our own homes but you are going to see it more and more in restauants etc. I think you can choose to do recycling or not. If you just use one non-clear bag the whole thing goes to the landfill - right? I like the bag idea better than containers since TV would be littered with containers not being brought back into the garage until many hours have passed. Or even worse some may leave them outside the garage all day, every day until it is time to bring them to the curb. We do that here in MA and it is unsightly, convenient yet but unsightly. I agree with the rotary signals if you are not going straight through. But in some ways it doesn't matter since the person IN the rotary has the right of way anyway, just give them some leeway. |
Re: What's wrong in TV
We have not lost that battle !!!!
A gentleman always removes his hat when entering a building....just as a gentleman always carries a handkerchief in his pocket.....Its called breeding , its called education, Its called Culture, You never see a military man wear his hat indoors or a police officer unless they are armed of course and then its regulation......But to not remove your hat at dinner is a sure sign of being a second class citizen who doesn't know any better.......... We all have hot buttons and you just hit mine......... tip of the hat fumar |
Re: What's wrong in TV
Fumar.....
:agree: :agree: I have the same button!!!!!! |

Re: What's wrong in TV
O Great Fumar:
Your avatar pic looks to be taken indoors with your hat on. |
Re: What's wrong in TV
Chuckinca, I think Fumar was standing under a streetlight one damp and misty evening when that picture was taken.

Re: What's wrong in TV
Hats in restaurants. Please don't get my wife started. :yikes:

Fumar, I agree 100% with your sentiment but as far as the military, sorry to tell you but I was recently inside the Arizona monument in Hawaii and there were a dozen or more military both male and female and NONE of them removed their cover. When I mentioned to a colonel standing there, that the military used to teach in basic training to remove your cover indoors and in solemn places such as the Arizona burial site in respect, he looked at me like I was speaking martian. I guess times have changed and not for the better. I also believe it shows a complete lack of class and upbringing. :agree: |
Re: What's wrong in TV
Thought of one! WVLG plays the same commercials over and over and over.... Grandma, how can I learn to play shuffleboard like you? :(

Re: What's wrong in TV
Fumar: They are not wearing hats, they are hidding their boldness.

But they have paid a pretty penny to be on that channel with commercials....it sounds annoying at times....but I am amazed that TV's allows it in the first place!!!! |
Re: What's wrong in TV
Fumar - We can agree to disagree without much further argument. But I will say that just because someone wears a hat indoors doesn't mean much to me. There may be many cultures where it is perfectly acceptable or even proper. I am certainly not going to judge someone based on whether their head is uncovered indoors. If you want to judge someone on that basis it is your prerogative. You might be missing out on meeting some really nice people based on an old held belief that is becoming passe. I've said my piece but I still respect your opinion.
Your future bald headed uncovered (indoors) friend - Russ |
Re: What's wrong in TV
Efrahin, I personally think bald men are very sexy :2cool:
|
Re: What's wrong in TV
Nothing wrong with being bald, some people dont want to advertise. Vanity does not belong to women only.
|
Re: What's wrong in TV
Vanity is a strange thing, the content of a man's soul is far more important than any hair he grows on his head. ;)
So there is nothing wrong with being bald in The Villages. (Thought I'd better get back on thread.) |

Mr. Boomer would vote with Fumar. Mr. Boomer has a little of his thick curly hair, now white though, left around the edges. But the top of Mr. Boomer is just kind of fuzzy and wispy. And that's just fine with me. And Mr. Boomer would never ever wear a hat inside.
Boomer Uh oh. Are we going to all get into an argument about this? |
Re: What's wrong in TV
The only possible cloud over TV that I notice is the fact that many peeps are lousy drivers. Both cars and golf carts. And that probably includes me as I lurch around TV in Fireboy's standard SUV. I'm the one stalling at intersections. But I digress.
As long as you drive defensively, no worries. |

I'M SURE THAT THE COLONEL DID LOOK AT YOU STRANGELY....THE ARIZONA MONUMENT IS CONSIDERED AN OUTDOOR SHRINE AND THE MILITARY DOES NOT UNCOVER ...!!! I HAVE BEEN THERE SEVERAL TIMES AND AGREE WITH YOU THAT IT CERTAINLY IS IMPRESSIVE.....HAWAII IS MY FAVORITE PLACE IN THE WHOLE WORLD AND I FOR ONE TAKE MY HAT OFF WHEN ARE COMING IN FOR A LANDING..........
