Other people’s jets — outside and inside, too……

The hot tub removes dead skin and other chromosomes that I don’t want to share with anyone. The volume of people in that tub was big. Not for me or many who owned a hot tub at their home Gross!!!!

Nucky, I completely understand. But I certainly would not categorize it as a phobia. It just makes good sense to me.
I don’t know how it was in other places in the country, but in my part of the Midwest, it seems like some of us boomers (and beyond) went through a stage in the 90s, and the early 00s, when if we were building houses or remodeling bathrooms, we thought we had to have a Jacuzzi bathtub…..
I was among ‘em. (sigh) But, at least, we had sense enough to put in a big water heater.
Later sold the house with the giant Jacuzzi in the bathroom, bought another house from some boomer who had been like-minded back in our salad days of those damned jets……
BUT THEN, I perused plumbing websites until I found that same size, same shape, exact same tub — but without somebody else’s jets — that had been there for 20 years……
Had the old tub very carefully gouged from the nice, neutral tile that surrounded it (a Sawzall is your friend) — and new jetless version was plumbed in.
AND when we sold that house, that “soaking” tub was definitely a feature.
So, Nucky, not only do I get what you are saying, but I have played out the same aversion to jetted tubs of any kind. But please, please, promise me that you will not get so grossed out thinking about that hot tub on the historic side that you will go and take a Sawzall to it.
Persnickety, but not phobic, Boomer
