Default When to power wash vinyl siding?

This may be a goofy question, but is power washing on vinyl siding typically done at certain times of the year, or just whenever it looks like it needs washing?

Does it make sense to wait for hurricane season to end? (when is that, by the way?)
Or is it a spring cleaning kind of thing...?

I would wait until it looks like it needs to be done. In NJ sometimes it's every year sometimes it's 2 or 3 years. If you see any green tint (mold) I would have it done. I'd probably wait until spring.

With the dampness and heat here, you can count on having it done every 6 months.

We have had our home for a year and power washed twice. Both times we had it done when our neighbor had his done and were offered a discount. This seems to work well for us. Just another consideration.

If you contract to have it done, most contractors will call you every 6 months to remind you or to make an appointment. If you do it yourself, just do it when it needs it. I do mine myself and sometimes it is about 5 or 6 months, others times it can go 8 or 10 months. Depends on the humidity and temps.

Is a hurricane considered a power washing?

Hurrican season...I believe is from June 1 to Nov. 1....has nothing to do with when to power wash. The heat and humidity do a number on things...siding included, which will show mildew. This is why we power-wash! Some will say 2X a year, some will say "as needed" and some will say 1X per year--just depends on who you ask.

We never seemed to have to wash off our siding "up north" so this was new to us when we moved here!

So what does it cost to have your house power washed?

"average" home, $45 to $65? Often there are sales.

I use Egner's Exterior Cleaning 352-728-8537. No pressure - does a GREAT job. Siding and windows look great when finished. Doesn't blow high pressure water behind siding. I get it done once a year. CYV approx. $50.00 last year.
Having it done again this Monday.
