I gotta say, them seem to be a little more efficient. I missed them on our regular day of Thursday this week. They rolled past our house at 7:15a! Guess I have to start putting it out the night before and let the critters to get into.

Garbage pickup

Don't care as long as they pick it up when they should.

Our 'big problem' with the combined trash/recyc pickup is that we have a pullout trash/recyc cabinet in our TV home - very nice & handy. 1 white bag, 1 clear bag. Now with the combined pickup, being thrifty, I wish it now had 1 'bigger' bin for both. Thought of cutting the wood support to enable getting and installing 1 larger bin.

"She" thinks I'm nuts (I have OCD). probably am...

Big plus for me. Just throw everything in together and put it outside. No more sorting, no more cutting every plastic soda bottle carrier, no more questions of "is this recyclable"? What about this pizza box? Too greasy? Glass? Is this plastic thing good or bad?

Yup love it.

GREATEST THING TO HAPPEN in the villages.........A REAL PLus:boom:

Did you watch the Covanta Facility video explaining the process?

I am not happy with the new system. Normally our trash is picked up before 8 am. It is now 1:33 in the afternoon and trash bags, empty boxes and yard wastes are littering the streets of the village of Buttonwood. Let’s bring prospective homeowners through today for a tour. With the new system every pick up has been getting progressively longer but this is ridiculous.
One of the nice things about not having empty garbage cans in the streets is that everything looked really nice. Garbage in plastic bags was picked up early and landscapers could park their vehicles and get their job done without having to navigate through garbage that is still here. Ahh, bring back the good old days.
I’m hoping today is an anomaly.

Question

Question, does the new system allow for putting plastic bags, like from the markets, etc in the garbage?

Apparently, you could put your mother-in-law in there if you could get her to stand still long enough.:)

:icon_wink: Trash has to be placed out to the curb by 6 a.m. so what are you thinking..... maybe they work a 2 hour day? Someone is going to get the 1:33 pickup! Someone will get the 1:32 and the 1:34 pickup too. :) You sort of make it sound like they were late for an appointment. :)

:read: According to the District web site..... The facility processes a total of 528 tons of waste per day. Ya think they go thru each trash bag looking for supermarket bags? :coolsmiley:

Absolutely love the new system especially being able to get rid of yard waste twice a week now.

I'm thrilled not only to get rid of yard waste two days a week but to be able to put the yard waste in plastic bags. I did not like the paper bags, especially for wet yard debris. For me, it is also so much easier to collect the yard waste in the plastic bags. Two thumbs up for the new system!
