Some of the worst street names I have ever encountered. For example, how can a cull-de-sac be called an avenue? Ours is.

They should auction off the names with the proceeds going to a charity of the highest bidder. I would like to have a street named after my last name that I could look at more than a star. Who wouldn't want to live on TomWed Way?

My sales rep told me that he got a street named after him because he had the highest sales for the year.

IF TV continues to expand (sure...). The Developer could put a % of the new street names up for bid. For example 30 street names open, and TVrs can suggest names; must be 'clean', not personal, and perhaps with a theme - like Florida rivers, lakes. cities, etc etc. The ones that are chosen would pay $100 to a local charity.

Just a thought - something different --- some of the newer street names are odd; they will go un-named here.
OK, I'll give one = 'Waldo Terrace' in Leyton Villas. We got lost once going there and kept asking walkers - "Where's Waldo". They just chuckled and we still never found it.

They took your suggestion....Waldo is a speed trap 40 miles up 441

Sales reps do have streets named after them. I know two who earned that through number of sales. They aren't particularly interesting names, either.

I want to know who named the street off of St. Charles Barksdale. Or is it Barkdale. Our dog wants to live there.

I have a street named after me. It's probably not anywhere you have been. It was my dad and mom's idea. And I don't want to live there.

Another question, why are the house numbers so high....6 houses on a street...all in the 2000 range.

I believe that has something to do with the post office. If there is a street with the same or similar name in a nearby zip code this helps them from being confused.

I live on a street with about 28 homes and they are listed from 1000 to 1030.

The Village of Collier At Antrim Dells has quite a few streets using the names of the earlier or more successful sales reps.

From my observation some of the newer areas have names specific to Brownwood Acres in Northern Michigan. Michigan Brownwood is located on Torch Lake Drive. Close by is the town of Alden, MI (Alden Bungalows) also located on Torch Lake. There is Antrim Dells Golf Course in Ellsworth, MI close by. Can't forget the Grand Traverse reference too also located in Northern Michigan.

Just curious, when a new sub-division is being planned who selects the street names? Developer? County? Who?

I know Day St south of 466A is named for Chris Day a real estate agent with Tha Villages.
