Default Who pays for entertainment at squares

We have very much enjoyed visiting Sumter Landing for the evening musical entertainment. We have been quite impressed by the talent.

Mrs. Laker and I were wondering who pays for the bands.

It is a part of the amenity fee.

The entertainment at the squares is paid for by the stores and restaurants in the squares and Sumter County grants. Amenity fees do not contribute.

There is also a contribution from either Sumter County or the state.

Not true. Entertainment is paid mainly by the merchants in the squares. Also a portion by Sumter County.

Sumter County provides tourism grant money to Brownwood and Sumter Landing but not to Spanish Springs Squares. Grant funding is subject to an annual application from the Villages and County approval of same.

Default Occupancy tax

A portion of the occupancy tax: 9% total 1% to the county in Sumter, goes directly to the county. Temporary residents (renters) are charged this tax. The county provides grant from the tourism fund for entertainment. Ergo, renters pay for entertainment, in part

Renters may be aware of occupancy tax or it may be built into the rent but it is paid.

If they used the monies from alcohol sales at the squares they could pay off the national Debt

All of the business's in the square pay for it. It's part of their rental contract to do business in The Villages.
