I think if it were legal then the kayak club would be there all the time. The only time they are on Lake Sumter is for special events as far as I can tell.

The boat ramp location is easy to for you to reach (from your future St James home)

St Charles Pl out of St James, north on Buena Vista to Rainey (472)
West on Rainey/472 to park entrance. South side of road, a little past the west edge of lynn haven, past the new care facility (I think). Watch closely for the sign. A little google earth or sumterpa.com recon will do you fine.

It's a nice little park with a very good new boat ramp/dock; parking; tables/shelter, and restroom. My guess is that the lake is lightly used, especially during week.

Better be careful, though...you might end up being the lead for a new TV activity.

My Pap used to say " it's easier to ask for forgivness than beg for permission" and NIKE says "Just DO IT"

Waltch out for alligators

Or go the boating/recreational areas on Lake Miona or other lakes....

Have you thought of going to Lake Miona? I don't think it's privately owned, there's a launch there and people kayak there all the time. Also there is Lake Griffin (Griffith?) nearby but it's supposedly really full of gators.

Cap, this looks just a bit challenging if one doesn't have a good sense of balance! Looks like a great workout though. You sure you want to do this on the lakes around here? I know the water is more calm than it might be in the ocean or the Gulf, but......we do have swimming beasts that might tire of turtles, fish and birds and find a leg to be to their liking!....:icon_wink:

Hope you get an answer to whether or not you can do this at the lake.
