I'm not siding with anyone. I am stating from the food wrapper: Hellmann's Light Mayonnaise has <1g of sugar. On second thought I would like to side with Cisco Kid. I like peanut butter, but only Jif crunchy.

You are right. They have a BIG pencil and enormous buying power. If you can sell your product to them, you do it pretty much their way and on their terms and their price.

That is why I shop there for a number of things. They are just plain cheaper..

Mayo is mayo. Don't really care what brand it is.

Walmart has stores all around the country (world?). They can buy from the manufacturer in larger quantities. Larger quantities, lower price, which they pass on to their customer. Winn-Dixie is a considerably smaller franchise and they can't get the same deals from the manufacturer.

Did you know German descendants put sugar in their slaw and in their potato salad and in their red tomato spaghetti sauce?

I am now a southern woman of German descent. Maybe if I bought Duke's and put a teaspoon of sugar in it................
Sounds wonderful! I have heard tales about the Germans and their love of sugar. Many years ago I had a German friend serve me a wonderful cucumber dish made with mayonnaise or sour cream, I don't know which, vinegar and sugar. It was wonderful and I can not seem to replicate it. Maybe because I'm using Dukes, LOL!

That explains my husband, then. He's of German descent and, I swear, he is addicted to sugar!

Yes! Peanut butter is better than Dukes, which is better than Hellmans, but not in egg salad.

So do I. It's the PA Dutch influence. Or my mom's French Huguenot heritage. Slaw/potato salad/egg salad/macaroni salad--mayo, sugar and vinegar. Tomato sauce--I don't know what that influence that is, but IMO tomato sauce needs a little sugar to cut the acid. It "makes" the sauce.

I don't think it's the lack of sugar that makes Dukes taste better. You can't even detect the taste of the sugar in Hellmans. Dukes is just a great taste. And I was a lifelong Hellmans fan.

Miracle Whip is salad dressing, but Hellmans is mayo, and good. Dukes just edges it out a bit with a je ne sais quoi element. Only my opinion, though.

I put a little bit of sugar in my sauce and my slaw dressing.

Walmart is the first retailer in history to dictate what they will pay for products. Because they are the biggest they can say jump and manufacturers say how high. That and the fact they treat employees horribly.
