I suspect that you haven't been to many Village's restaurants lately. Even though it's the slow season just last night it was a 45 minute at Outback. I recently found waits like this this to be also true at Applebees and Ruby Tuesdays.

one false statement....rents are too high. Cop out explanation for failure too often repeated by those who just repeat what they "heard".

One fallacy.....the slow season.

Try to remember that today's slow season population was the total busy season of 5 years ago.....and growing each year.

The more appropriate terms in my opinion are busy and busier seasons.

sorry, but I really find it hard to believe that DQ would allow their main base product, soft serve ice cream, to vary between stores or franchisees. Most chains have tight controls to ensure product quality from store to store, regardless of location or franchise. All DQ ice cream has always tasted the same to me, no matter where purchased.

At least DQ handles more than one sugar free option, that is more than I can say for the villages area establishments. Ollies always has one, but 99% of time it is vanilla and Peachwave makes 2-3 of the same flavors only. High Five used to be good, but they have fallen down on selections. Rarer than ice cream or yogurt is sugar free deserts at local restaurants. I have to think that the diabetic population of the villages is large and would drive a better showing, but haven't found that to be the case. The DQ at Exit 2 on I-75 going north is the first thing I look forward to.

My experience with the DQ on 466 was that they couldn't get an order right no matter how many times you repeated it. Do I really have to tell you 3 times I don't want cheese on my hamburger? If I did, I would order a cheeseburger! Go to Steak 'n Shake. Great food, fast and they do it right every time.

Steak and shake has taken care of my dairy queen yearnings. Between 2-4 pm premium shakes are $1.88. Almost taste like a blizzard.

The Dairy Queen stores have options from the corporation as to the ice cream mixture they want to use. Too many stores choose the least expensive to save money and consequently put out a poor product. I tried both dairy queens here in the Villages, their soft serve was not up to par with what Dairy Queens once served. In addition their sandwiches were over priced. When these two things happen, they can kiss their business good bye.

This is an old thread, however, I question why anyone would leave property vacant as long as the old Dairy Queen on 466 in front of Southern Trace. This is a valuable location. I never cared much for Dairy Queen in the first place---no matter what State or City it was located----always thought it was inferior to other similar franchise such as Culver's. Would love to see Culver's in TV.

They cannot survive as an establishment who sells only half price shakes.

Culvers
 
Culvers is a Wisconsin based chain that operates in the Midwest. The town I am from has just started building their third culvers for a town of 50,000. They do have great ice cream and are famous for butter burgers.:MOJE_whot:
