We have looked into purchasing in nicer RV resorts around the US. Here are three examples from our most recent travels:
Alabama - 82,000-165,000 for the lot, then you get to pay more to build a small building, probably 50,000+ and room for a laundry, small living room, and bath. Another in Alabama - 199,000 - 419,000 for the lot including a small building similar to above, you complete the interior. Texas - Prices around 100,000 with no building. We saw homes on the lots that would be on the same level as any Premier home here in TV. These places only allow class "A" motorhomes. If TV offered such an arrangement I would be in line to get one. BTW - I know of one home here in TV that has a very large garage for a motorhome - it is in a premier neighborhood. |
We moved here from Las Vegas. If anyone has ever gone astray -- west of the Strip and into some of the neighborhoods, you will see many homes (from affordable to in the millions) that have a wide, extended driveway and sometimes oversized garage for a motor home. This isn't a onesy-twosy kind of thing; it's commonplace. In addition, 95% of all homes are built with concrete walls, giving the residents instant privacy.
These motor homes/RV driveways are usually directly next to the house and yes, you see the motor home over the walls. Because they are so common, it has not had any negative effect on the price of homes. Worry not, fellow Villagers; this will never happen here! |

I've seen RV-port developments that look much more high-end than a lot of TV. Seems there are some very adamant, if not informed, ideas on the matter. I'd be interested, personally.

This is why I am glad we can't vote on things.
This place is so wonderful on it's own, and some mighty fine thinkers who have done a great job already just keep making things nicer. but if asked I would say No. |
An RV Village, and also a suggestion for low income housing, incredible absolutely incredible. I think some folks have too much time on their hands
I am afraid those making such suggestions are doing so because the concept and reason for The Villages is lost on them. Finally I no longer get upset when someone equates not in my back yard with racism because such claims are made strictly because they do not know how to have a serious conversation . This thread is sheer bupkus |

I built a separate garage just for my motorhome when I had a large enough property to accommodate such a building. I had to go though the zoning and permit process, no problem - and not one neighbor every complained. This was in a very nice neighborhood of some of the most expensive homes around. Guess what I am getting at - if done right and priced right it is only going to attract people who care about the appearance of their property and their neighborhood. |
I think this is what Harold Schwartz started out with way back when. Although I don't think they were called RVs then, I think they were just called trailer homes.
Remember Lucille Ball in "The Long Long Trailer"? Still funny. |
I like the idea of an upscale RV park in the area but not part of the Villages. The reason I say that is that there is already a very high density population here. I think that is why they don't do condos and town homes. A Time Share resort in the area would be good also but again not in the Villages.

ok with me as long as its waaaay down south of my village! I owned an rv and I don't care how much they cost they still have sewage and water hookups out in the open. also there are many cheap varietys out there like pop up tents etc etc. it would be a deed restricting nightmare.

Lake Deaton also has an RV park on 44

I wouldn't be against an RV section in The Villages. Of course once you buy a lot, you would have to then pay the amenities fee, water and sewer bill, electric and trash collection year round in addition to property taxes on your lot. I don't know how many people would be willing to do that.
