They’re like love bugs, a seasonal annoyance. But hate, no.

I wouldn't say despised. Fact is, snowbirds do very much to contribute to a healthy economy all over Florida, including TV, and many of my friends and family are snowbirds and I love to see them again when it's "in season" time and they are back in Florida.

On the flip side, here are a few reasons some might groan over snowbirds:

1. Definitely more crowded "in season" -- can't get a table in a restaurant when you want -- definitely can't just be an in-the-moment walk-in, the tee time you wanted is harder to come by, stand in line for a lot of things "in season" that you don't have to stand in line for when the snowbirds are back north.

2. Sometimes it's the few who spoil it for the many. Every season I always run into at least one snow bird who decides to "show off" their entitled side . . . "WE don't do it like that in NY" . . . "step aside I'm coming through" . . . "it's my first day back and I'm going to run you over in Publix buying up EVERYTHING I can get my hands on even if it means shoving past you to grab that last loaf of multi-grain on the bakery shelf" . . . "I'm cutting you off in the round-about because I am in a hurry (license plate: Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, etc. . . )" . . . receive the one-finger salute for going to slow at 20 mph as I'm cut you off in my golf cart because they have GOT to get that seat in the square . . . you get the picture. DEFINITELY not everyone . . . but does happen with greater frequency "in season" . . .

3. Have a visiting guest who can't join me in my weekly yoga/aerobics/water exercise class because it's full with seasonal residents . . . sigh

4. Having my backside rammed with a cart in Fresh Market because it's busier ahead of Christmas . . . when if I tried to move myself I'd have to ram the person in front of me because it's just that busy . . . and then when I look back to see who rammed me . . . I get glared out. Hmmm.

Mainly, it's just more crowded and that makes people grouchier. Plus there are a preponderance of "old, angries" in TV . . . and they are perpetually cranky.

Snowbirds are not despised . . . but it does give those who are prone to complaining something to complain about.

I have to agree with you. I've lived in areas where "summerbirds" would flood the shore towns in the summer, and when I lived in a resort town in southwest, Florida, it was the "snowbirds." It wasn't the people the "locals" disliked, it was the over-crowdedness they didn't like. Gone, when the crowds came back, was being able to be seated at a restaurant immediately, without reservations and now it became harder to even get a reservation. Golf courses became too hard to get a tee time. Traffic was horrendous.

I think it's the "3 month renter" snowbirds people really dislike because many (not all), since the place is not "theirs" don't give a sheet about how they treat the place. If you don't own it you don't treat it like your own. Not everyone of course but enough get a bad rep.

There are always the arrogant that think their opinion is superior to all others, so if is such a problem for you, go to some other 'Perfect" location!!!

A few simply have one-dimensional thinking -- no more, no less. I.E. when snowbirds come down, things get crowded and therefore snowbirds must be bad. Not another thought crosses their simplistic minds. And, of course many are pre-wired to the cup half-empty scenario instead of taking the slightest pause to think about any views offered here.

Somehow the USA Government instills a hatred of 'Snowbirds' I have to jump through hoops to get a visa for more than 90 days (and pay big bucks for it - plus time to go to the embassy). The DMV cancel my licence on the day I leave after a stay. The DMV also suspended my licence because my insurance on the car ran out and I didn't renew it because I'm 4000 miles away and not driving the car (it's up on tire savers and connected to a battery charger under cover) now they want $150 to renew my licence and remove the marker ???? AND although I'm fully vacinated the USA border is closed to me and my house is just sitting there ...and i'm paying all the taxes insurance utilities and amenity fee for no benefit. I'm feeling kindda miserable about all of this

Just go to Mexico, then cross.:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl: The border is wide open from the south. Canada, not so much.
(PS: license, vaccinated, and kind of:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:)

Do you have a recommendation for this service? Thank you!

Personally I can't stand the entitled attitude that a lot of snowbirds display, along with the urgency on the roadways. Prices go up every fall so that the developers can further line their already bulging pockets, and frankly a lot of snowbirds are rude. I have some great snowbird friends, that do not act as I described. I do believe if the developers would quit lying about expansion, that part of the animosity would subside.

That sounds racist to me.

I’m a full timer but I haven’t noticed any angst against snowbirds. In fact many people refer to SB for distinction, as in, “my snowbird friends”, meaning, you can join the group when you’re here. I’ve not heard one negative reference. I’ve found that some folks just have to complain, if it’s not about snowbirds it will be about something or someone else. Just consider the source and live your life your way.

What on God's green Earth does the like or dislike of snowbirds have to do with the "developer"????? What does the price of a home have to do with snowbirds???? What does "expansion" have to do with any of it??????

Back about circa 1915 early psychiatrists developed diagnostic criteria for various mental disorders. One was called "loosening of associations" and another was "reality testing". My specialty is not psychiatry, but looking at that post I wonder if the criteria have been met:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

I love the snowbirds. If it weren’t for them, we wouldn’t have all the restaurants that we have and all the shopping areas that we have, because we would only have half the population that we have.

What does the developer have to do with any of this???
