But also a population brought up in an era where smoking was widely acceptable, even considered somewhat cultured, educated, chic, or whatever you want to call it, young and old were shown on TV, magazines, in films, as a more sophisticated group, and many seniors here probably remember the encouragement given to young men who entered the military to smoke, they were made to feel somewhat different, apart from the 'team" if they resisted the smoke breaks. So, I'd guess smoking to be just a tad higher in this kind of community than the general population which has grown up with a distinct prejudice against smokers, but that's only one opinion. Last week I did hear the surgeon general of Florida say that over all the state, 20% of the residents smoke, as opposed to only 25 years ago when 45% of Floridians smoked. He said within the medical and scientific communities, that is considered an amazing percentage of reduction.

A second "thank GOD" for that ! Not a supporter of smoking, but also not worth the downside of living in that state.

Really? You're sure about that? From all the spelling and grammatical errors I see on these posts, I highly doubt that.

100%.

There are a few here whose posts are so bad that I figure either they're drunk, or I'm having a stroke.

We “tolerate” because we live in the USA and the outside air belongs to everyone.

Wow this is right up there with the dog dilemma

Some posters on here are recovering from strokes or other neurological problems.
Some are in their 80-90's and not as sharp as they/we were.
Some like myself, for whatever reason, had a minimal formal education, and rely on spell and grammar check to get as much right as possible.
It's not that hard to understand the gist of the less than perfect posts.
Climb down from your high chair, and show a little tolerance.

How about adding dogs to your list?

My guess is that if they cannot tolerate smoke outdoors, then they can't tolerate bad grammar on their computer either. :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

Smokers

I know what you mean. I hate cigars smells terrible. Makes me cough. And cigarettes too. When I sit in my car listening to music someone is next to me smoking made me want to move my car but there isn't any other place to park I have to stay there or leave.

Cigars near the squares? Not something I get my undies in a bundle over. As long as no laws are being broken have at it. I always have the option to move upwind.

Have to agree, more or less, with the posts regarding body odor, not so much in the squares (that upwind choice again) but in enclosed spaces. My gripe isn't with body odor per se but with those who use potions, lotions, dabs, etc. to try to hide it. I'm an asthma sufferer and I can tell you from firsthand experience that B.O., obnoxious as it may be, can't trigger asthma like going out in public after drenching yourself in the stuff you buy at Al's Quicklube & Body Wash Emporium. We stopped going to a certain church here in TV because the pastor refused to acknowledge that it was even a problem, let alone not consenting to even advise The Flock to tone it down as it may be a problem for some.

Everyone is educated on smoking. TV is not any smarter. It just seems that cigars are more the choice.
